As a Molding Engineer II, you will be trusted to design, develop, and implement new or revised production processes for the efficient/economical mass production of goods at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX!
In this role, a typical day will include:
Designing arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Designing the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions.
Conducting tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting/solving production problems.
Providing guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Actively interacting and communicating upward with Sr. Engineer I, Sr. Engineer II and Principal Engineer.
Actively participating and communicating with injection molding production floor solving engineering issues as required using statistical data to draw conclusions, provide Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and develop approach to corrective action, preventive action plan.
Supporting the timely completion of all Non-Conformance Investigations (NCIs) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
Utilizing scientific molding practices such as injection speed linearity, load sensitivity, dynamic cavity imbalance, and dynamic check ring repeatability test to troubleshoot process issues.
Providing front-line, hands-on process assistance, including, mold setup, start, stop, adjust, idle, troubleshoot of injection molding machines, and auxiliary equipment such as robots, thermolators, material systems, and conveying equipment.
Supporting and assisting defining training plans and programs as required, including seeing training needs through for all associated staff.
Vigilant pursuit of continuous improvement across all functions assigned.
What you’ll bring to Alcon:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
Work Hours: Day Shift (8 hours): Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST
Travel Requirements: 10-20%, domestic and/or international
