To supervise senior assistant technical officers, assistant technical officers, and students within the pharmacy technical services unit. To Train and carry out competency assessments for senior assistant technical officers, assistant technical officers, rotational technicians under the guidance and direction of senior technicians. To carefully follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure that all products are made safely and efficiently in accordance with Good Manufacturing Guidelines. To assist with the preparation of draft documents pertaining to new products and procedures under guidance and supervision of senior technicians. To participate in production of clinical trials products completing all necessary documentation as required by the study protocols.

Step Teachers are currently working with a Secondary School Teacher in East Cornwall who are looking for Science Teacher, starting as soon as possible. The school are looking for a Science Teacher on a long term supply basis, including planning, marking and reporting, until the end of the academic year.

Science Teacher Role:

• Good knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Science curriculum; including Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons
• Maintain a well organised classroom and ensure the safe use and storage of all equipment
• Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the department and throughout the school
• Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback
• Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these

Science Teacher Requirement:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification
• Have recent mainstream school-based experience as a Science Teacher in a Secondary School
• Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management
• A relevant Science related degree is desirable

You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies and also providing research support to investigators. This post will enable you to gain clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of specialist conditions through working closely with the consultants and specialist nurses and multi-disciplinary teams.

A central part of the role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research monitoring and care to patients who have consented to participate in research and that the research/clinical teams you work with are appropriately trained, supported and developed within their professional/research roles. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.

Within this post you will develop processes and systems for maximising the recruitment of patients to academic and commercial studies and will ensure that research patients/participants are monitored, supported and receive the highest level of research nursing care. You will work across a range of studies including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions. Under the direction of the Lead Consultants, Team Leader and Senior Research Nurses you will coordinate the clinical aspects of trials, participate in the recruitment and follow up of patients with responsibility for the assessment, planning and on-going care and safety of the research participants throughout their study journey. The post holder will be required to work autonomously with supervision and guidance of the Team Leader and Senior Research Nurses.



The role requires knowledge and experience within clinical research to be able to act as an expert resource to colleagues and patients. Experience of staff management and excellent communication skills are essential. Additionally, experience of working on academic and commercial research studies is desirable but not essential. Well-developed skills and experience an area of Trauma, Orthopaedics, Surgery & Neurovascular is also desirable and an interest in developing your career in these specialised areas with a willingness to train will be essential. A working understanding and awareness of all regulatory issues in the conduct of clinical trials will also be required.

The post will further develop the nurse’s specialist research skills under the guidance of the Research Sister. We are keen to invest in and develop our staff and a variety of training opportunities will be provided.

Research Department

RCHT has a well-established research infrastructure running in excess of 300 studies across many specialities across the three Trust sites and also provides an outreach research service into the community. The growth in our research, development and innovation culture within the Trust has seen a year on year increase in the number of studies being carried out, bringing equality of research opportunities to our local population. Although your main focus will be within the Haematology research team, you will be joining a wider dynamic team of over 100 research staff who, across the acute and community sectors recruited in excess of 4000 patients in Cornwall in the last financial year.
