We are an Australian technology company creating the future of mobility with software-defined driverless transport. To build this new future and respond to growing demand, we are on the hunt to employ fresh thinking, technical minds to join our dynamic team, where we will continue to innovate and thrive together.
Applied EV develops safety-rated, autonomous-ready, digital control systems (Digital Backbone) and modular vehicle platforms (Blanc Robot), for global commercial applications. We are developing the next generation of mobility, where vehicles run entirely on software and are programmable, improving efficiency & sustainability.
Applied EV creates an inclusive environment that empowers employees and embraces diversity. We welcome and encourage everyone who has a passion and curiosity for technology, automotive and innovation to explore our open positions and join our growing team.
As a Solution Architect you will be instrumental in the definition of high-level designs and specifications that integrate vehicle features into a complete solution. You will support the feature engineering teams to ensure that the overall vehicle has the correct function and performance. Working closely with the Functional Safety team, you will ensure the defined architectures are compatible with the functional and technical safety concepts.

The Solution Architect plays a critical part in translating technical specifications into candidate architectural solutions, assessing the technical choices to ensure the best trade-off between requirement, schedule, risk, and cost are achieved.
The Solution Architect has responsibility for the consistency and coherency of the system architecture, providing visual representations of the vehicle components and interfaces.
The Solution Architect understands and practices a Systems Engineering approach and has an ability to decompose complexity using different levels of abstraction and expression.
The Solution Architect is required to be an articulate technical communicator with experience interfacing between feature/domain engineering teams.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- The Solution Architect will own the Vehicle Architecture Design document and models to communicate the high-level design and justifications to the feature/domain engineering teams. The Solution Architect will document design elaboration including static and behavioural aspects.
- The Solution Architect will work closely with the Verification and Testing team to ensure vehicle architectures are defined in such a way that they are testable.
- The Solution Architect will develop Interface Control Documents to facilitate the correct integration of independently developed components into the overall system.
- The Solution Architect will collaborate with the Software domain to ensure that the software implementation is consistent with the overall vehicle design. The Solution Architect will review the detailed derived designs providing approval to proceed to implementation.
- The Solution Architect will collaborate with the Electrical & Electronics domain to ensure that the hardware implementation is consistent with the overall vehicle design. The Solution Architect will review the detailed designs providing approval to proceed to implementation.
- The Solution Architect will collaborate with the Mechanical domain to ensure that the mechanical implementation is consistent with the overall vehicle design. The Solution Architect will review the detailed derived designs providing approval to proceed to implementation.
- The Solution Architect will collaborate with the Modelling and Simulation Engineer to develop confidence in proposed solutions for the domain engineering teams to execute.
- The Solution Architect will support the Functional Safety team to achieve the defined safety goals and safety concepts of the vehicle.
- The Solution Architect will deliver work products in line with the program schedule, highlighting deficiencies and associated risk to program execution. Ensure that identified risks are communicated in an appropriate forum and that a champion is assigned to establish countermeasures.
- The Solution Architect will utilise the relevant toolchains to develop, release and control architecture artifacts.
- The Solution Architect will lead the resolution of architecture issues raised by domain engineering teams. Ensure issues are appropriately tracked in the relevant toolchain, and where required (based on program status) create an Engineering Change Request for architecture evolutions.
