Job Description
Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) seeks a proven leader for the position of Supply Chain Manager for the growing Electronics Value Stream. The chosen candidate will be responsible for building a new Supply Chain organization with an unwavering focus on maintaining a reliable source of supply for the development and production teams. This position is located in Simsbury, CT and will report to the Electronics Value Stream Manager.
The Electronics Supply Chain Manager is responsible for:
- Leading a team of buyers and supplier quality engineers responsible for supplier sourcing, procurement, and delivery of raw materials, machined components, contract manufacturing & services in support of the Electronics Value Stream – a high-mix/low-volume engineering development and production aerospace & defense team with ~$20M of annual spend.
- Collaborating with Production and the Integrated Product Team Leads to ensure demand is adequately represented and material OTD meets the needs of all internal customers (including driving creative solutions when upset conditions arise).
- Partnering with Design Engineering and the supply base to develop and implement strategies for DFM implementation, part obsolescence, alternate parts, and other supply chain risk mitigations.
- Maintaining cost-effective inventory controls for all materials, including strategic stocking plans and leveraging techniques such as vendor managed inventory to meet forecasted demand while controlling costs.
- Analyzing existing supplier performance and health of the supply chain via Quality, Delivery, and Cost KPIs and utilizing them to lead supplier quality/delivery improvement initiatives, including new supplier qualifications and executing supplier exit strategies as needed.
- Managing a Logistics/Material Control team responsible for safe movement and storage of materials and shipping of finished goods to customers and outside vendors.
- Obtaining supplier/subcontractor quotes for procurement pricing for new business proposals and creating any risk mitigation recommendations. Negotiating to achieve favorable payment terms and Purchase Price Variances (PPV) during program execution.
- Creating a strong team environment, while developing, coaching, and managing the performance of team members.
- Evaluating existing processes and procedures and leading continuous improvement activities within the organization to ensure they support the goals of the Electronics team.
- Ensuring all regulatory requirements with respect to purchasing, storage, and transportation of materials are adhered to, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), ITAR, AS9100D, Contractor Procurement Systems Review (CPSR), ATF, DOT 49CFR, IATA and company practices and procedures.
Requirements:
- BS in Supply Chain Management, Electrical Engineering, or similar. Masters’ degree is a plus.
- 10+ years’ Supply Chain experience at an Electronics manufacturing company. Experience with fast paced new product development at a high-mix/low-volume aerospace/defense company strongly preferred.
- Tenacious & proactive problem solver with a positive and collaborative personality.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially without purchasing volume leverage.
- In-depth understanding ERP/MRP planning systems.
- Professional certification - CPSM, CPCM or CPIM certification is a plus.
- Proven leadership abilities – either direct or indirect.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong skills in MS Windows – Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiar with and able to work in MS Project.
- Travel 10-20%.
