The role
As a Principal Commissioning Engineer (Ship), you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Principal Commissioning Engineer is a key role, providing management of the Commissioning Group and be responsible for the Planning, Enablement and Delivery elements as well as ensuring that DA design intent assurance and delegated authority is carried through all commissioning activities.
Day to day, you'll:
* Provide technical support for the planning and execution of SSN maintenance periods and disposal projects
* Responsible for the production of relevant commissioning documentation to meet DA assurance requirements aligning to programme requirements
* Ensure Licence Conditions, OR's and IOI compliance is integrated into commissioning activities
* Promote a robust safety culture within the team, ensuring production and use of safety documentation and SSoW requirements are understood and executed
* Provide day to day management of staff to ensure programme requirements are met
* Assist the Manager of Trials in ensuring targeted continuous development and resource assurance
This role is a full time and permanent consisting of a 35-hour working week. This role has hybrid, working from home options but you must be willing to travel into our Devonport site when required.

Essential experience of the Principal Commissioning Engineer (Ship):
* Substantial knowledge and experience of commissioning mechanical or electrical systems on nuclear submarines, specialising in Ship systems
* A Class experience is desirable but not essential
* Min of one DMP / two RAMPS or relatable operational experience
* Sound and demonstrable knowledge of safe release of systems, CoW process and SSoW (safe systems of work)
* Sound understanding of relevant Licence Conditions, OR's and IOI's and the relevance to commissioning activities
* The ability to manage multiple complex commissioning packages across multiple projects
Qualifications for the Principal Commissioning Engineer (Ship):
All qualifications are desirable. If you do not have the below, they will need to be obtained. We will support you through all training
* Nuclear Fundamental Course
* Nuclear Practitioner Course
* Submarine Quality Assurance Course
* Dockyard Nuclear Systems Course
* NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in an engineering discipline
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
