As a Shunter Driver your primary objective is to facilitate the movement of trailers and containers within logistics yards of facilities. • Vehicle checks are carried out in accordance with the manufacture's handbook or maintenance schedule relevant to the vehicle being checked.
• Ensuring vehicles, prior to departure, are correctly loaded and that the load is secured. Periodic checks are to be made during the journey.
• Ensuring the safe movement of large vehicles and trailers around a construction site
• Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines
• Completing safety assessments
• Ensuring handover procedures are correctly implemented when passing goods on to other workers.

• Report any vehicle accidents and mechanical defects

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

• Previous experience as a shunter driver or in a similar role within the logistics industry is preferred.
• Proficient driving skills, especially in manoeuvring large vehicles in tight spaces
• Strong awareness of safety protocols and regulations
• Commitment to complying with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to shunting operations, vehicle maintenance and documentation.
• LGV licence
• Must have the ability to accurately position trailers and navigate in tight spaces, requiring keen attention to detail.

What do I need? - No experience is needed as a full 2-day technical service familiarisation seminar available, at a site local to you. You do not need your own vehicle and there is no initial outlay of any cost. We do however require the following (essential):

• Held a full UK Manual Driver Licence for at least 2 years (registered to your current home address).
• No more than 9 points on your licence (and no serious motoring offences).
• Aged 21 or over (for insurance purposes).
• Are punctual and reliable with a polite and professional demeanour.
• Excellent customer service skills.

What will I be doing? - You will be collecting a variety of different vehicles from clients, checking they are safe for you to drive and delivering these to the required destination. On some occasions you may carry out an inspection on the vehicles.

• Handling vehicles with care and professionalism.

• Competitive Pay: Earn £17.95 per hour for a guaranteed 42.5 hours/week, with time and a half on weekends and overtime paid at £26.92
  London Weighting bonus £7.75 per shift

• Guaranteed Assignments: Work guaranteed until April.
• Bonuses: Earn up to £1000 every six months

Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Ensure safe and professional operations in line with client standards.
• Multi-drop tanker deliveries to farms and commercial premises.

Requirements:

• Valid Cat C driving licence, Digi card, DCPC card.
• ADR licence in class 2 in tanks.
• Familiarity with drivers' hours legislation and tachographs.
• Successful candidates require a DBS check.

Details:

• New and inexperienced drivers with the relevant truck / HGV licences are welcome to apply.
• The role starts in October and will run until April (weather dependent).
• For insurance purposes you should have no more than 6 points on your licence, and no DD or DR convictions in the last year.
