The salary range for Lexington, KY (LEX - Blue Grass Airport) is $43,055 to $55,231 or $20.63 to $26.46 per hour and includes locality pay of 16.82%.

This Transportation Security Officer position is located in Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSOs) within Security Operations (SO), you will provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft in a courteous and professional manner. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
• Performing searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat-downs, search of property, etc.), conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50lbs.
• Controlling terminal entry and exit points.

This position is located in the Aviation Materiel Management Section of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). Its purpose is to provide services in support of inventory control, storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems. Manages aviation materials and resource tracking (i.e. Depot Level Repairable (DLR)/Class 9 (CLIX) funds and all other appropriate air and ground budgets), Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)/tools
management, and Hazardous Material Management.

Responsible for all phases of DLR and CLIX repair/repairable items procurement and returns program. Forecasts, justifies, prepares, submits, and administers the annual DLR budget request. Responsible to acquire needed DLR and CLIX repair parts. Verifies availability and orders DLR parts as needed. Determines proper fund coding, prepares requisitions and forwards to source of supply. Ensures part availability, receives part, stores, prepares Material Release Order (MRO), and forwards part to maintenance shops. Recovers damaged/unserviceable part, initiates turn-in procedure, prepares for shipment, packages and ships to depot, Aviation Classification Repair Army Depot (AVCRAD), or other appropriate activity. Maintains Document Control Register and ship-out log. Verifies that appropriate activity has received returned part. Reviews budget reports to ensure returned funds are properly credited to DLR account. Incumbent establishes coordination and networking with other civilian and military agencies, for the purpose of acquiring required items and supplies. Assists/performs the Property Book operations in the area of inventory and storage management, and equipment coordination. Ensures the property book sections periodically perform a visual inventory of all items. Maintains property book accountability utilizing an automated or manual supply accounting system. Establishes hand receipt files and maintains accountability by the use of hand receipt listings. Assures that all authorized property is on hand or has been requisitioned. Analyzes supply transactions or provides customer service for urgent critical shortage items and items requiring special handling when established procedures are not applicable. The incumbent will be required to maintain current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of RMD appropriate to this position. The Lead MST works in support of the SPS management team. Assures an even workflow and distribution of the workload. Conducts competency training and competency validation of the team. Performs quality assurance duties under the direction of the Supervisory MST. Assists with assigning work to staff based on experience/training needs. Monitors and reports the status of work.

Ensures Compliance SOPs, SPS mandates, and VA directives.

Reviews work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review to ensure completed work meets supervisors' instructions.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

The employee works under the direct supervision of the Supervisory MST with general supervision from the Assistant Chief and/or Chief of SPS.

The employee will work as a team member with other Medical Supply Technicians of various experience to carry out the daily work utilizing the SOPs and/or manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted/standard practices.

The employee works independently, consulting with the supervisor on unusual problems that develop, which could include seeking urgently needed supplies from other medical facilities on a loan basis. While working on days, evenings or weekends shifts, supervisory assistance may not be available for problems that arise and the employee is responsible for solving these problems in consultation with the medical staff of the medical center.

Consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.

Tours/On Call: This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. Some positions require rotation indefinite work on non administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor. May be on call at any time as required by management. Other duties as assigned by supervisory official. Self-motivated in the pursuit of meeting professional work standards.

Training / Travel: This position may be selected to attend VHA sponsored educational training or certification courses. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky Driver License to operate a government vehicle. This position is not suitable for telework.

The incumbent will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and will fully cooperate in efforts to improve patient safety and eradicate potential events including the reporting of events resulting in actual or potential injury to a patient. Incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of the reporting procedures involving safety issues relating to patients.

Recommends updates to systems to improve the user experience and the product functionality to AMCD, other Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) employees, and external stakeholders. Provides information necessary to refine requirements to ensure the product meets the business requirement. Applies knowledge of software application and business process to test system enhancements and bug fixes prior to release. Serves as a point of contact for system questions/issues for AAM and provides functional guidance to AAM’s Regional Medical Divisions, CAMI’s other divisions, FAA IT software (AIT) team, and the AMCS Support Unit.

Applies experience and subject matter expert technical knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies to perform critical tasks involving data/system management, to include planning, developing, implementing, and administering the Document Imaging and Workflow System, providing data analysis, data retrieval, and coordinating data sharing. In addition to specialized systems support and database management, develops new concepts, systems, or innovative approaches in support of the FAA's Airman Medical Certification program.

Provide briefings and/or reports to senior management concerning program/project requirements and status. Represents AAM-330 as a subject matter expert in cross-organizational IT business initiatives that interface with AAM business processes. Confers daily with AAM managers and senior-level executives to provide recommendations and guidance on interpreting AVS performance metrics, certification procedures, manpower application and new information technologies. As the IT Analyst of the Document Imaging and Workflow System (DIWS), ensures the system operates at full capability to ensure timely and appropriate risk-based medical certification at AMCD and throughout the FAA medical enterprise.

Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Using a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft. Installs, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies such as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting Specialists as required. Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs. Conducts ground functional tests of all aircraft systems. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, and hydraulic fluid. Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior ot takeoff. Inspects for conditions such as oil, fuel, and hydraulic leak, cut lines, tires and loose panels. May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc.

Uses professional Electrical Engineering principles in design work, field inspections, reviewing contractors work, collecting and analyzing data, performing trend analysis, engineering testing, writing technical/management reports, determining root cause analysis and recommending improvements to the design or operation of the system, equipment or process as it relates to FAA Logistics Center (FAALC), FAA, and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) projects. Prepares periodic written reports for FAALC management. Works a mixture of multiple, varying and complex assignments under limited direction of a manager, based on the objectives of the FAALC and/or other federal organizations. May serve as the contributing specialist or more experienced engineer or team lead in these assignments. Applies experience and advanced knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts to existing or proposed projects to satisfy customer needs/requirements, to include establishing microwave links for analog and digital microwave equipment and conducting path analysis. Will use experience and advanced knowledge of engineering principles, theories and concepts to develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies including reverse engineering projects. Must interact with other disciplines to develop, integrate and implement solutions to diverse, complex problems.

Provides engineering support of large projects and monitors resources to accomplish complex engineering tasks which may involve supporting several projects simultaneously. Works closely with other Product Groups and other group managers to implement FAALC business goals, engineering requirements, policies and procedures that are required to support CBP systems and subsystems. Support includes identifying customer requirements and decision-making processes. Guidelines include organization policies, precedents, requirements, orders, short and long-term planning documents; professional, scientific, technical and academic texts, publications, manuals, and presentations; local, state and federal laws and regulations; and contract and contractor proposals. Policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but are allowed considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approach. Typically receives little guidance on selecting the approach from a manager and will be required to assume the role of team leader, or senior engineer on issues which depart significantly from established concepts, theories, and principles.
