The role
As an Aircraft Surface Finish Supervisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Surface Finish Supervisor is responsible for planning, conducting and completing aircraft, component and support equipment surface finish paint restoration activities to the highest standard in line with current regulation and instruction from Hawk aircraft authorities.
Day-to-day, you'll oversee maintenance and coordinate maintenance documentation within Surface Finish category in line with competency limitations and certification, as well as:
- Ensure all tool control procedures IAW the relevant Acceptable Means of Compliance are followed.
- Monitor the handling, distribution, and satisfaction of engineering instructions (MODs, RTI's, UTI's STIs, SIs etc.) and their associated reporting procedures.
- Maintain an effective changeover by debriefs or written log to provide a smooth transition and continuation of trade tasks between each shift (Where/when applicable)
- Provide line management support to junior colleagues by way of PDR/Development, Performance Improvement, and technician mentoring. And Champion a culture of Near Miss and Error Reporting and take the lead for subsequent investigations.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, and is based on site at RAF Valley. The role alternates between 1 week of early shifts and 1 week of late shifts: Early shift 9am - 4.15pm, late shift 4pm - 12am, with an early finish every Friday.

- Relevant industry experience within Aviation
- Supervisory experience
Qualifications for the Aircraft Surface Finish Supervisor
- Training in relevant discipline to City and Guilds Level or NVQ level 3 equivalent (STANDARDS REQUIRED - EMAE R233,R235,3090,3091)
- Full Driving Licence
