About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Rochdale Borough Council for a suitably qualified individual with a public policy, climate change background to work as part of the council’s Policy, Performance & Improvement Team on the development and delivery of the council’s Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy. This is an 18 month fixed term contract linked to specific external funding by Sustainable Transport.
About you
The successful candidate will develop an ambitious strategy for new EV charging infrastructure (EVCI) and oversee the proposals through to delivery. The role holder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and with external partners, identifying opportunities to build on the established Be-EV charge point network as well as identifying and unlocking funding opportunities to help maximise the level of investment in EV charging infrastructure for people in the borough. The successful candidate will also contribute to other related climate change related projects and policy initiatives.
As a member of the council’s Policy team, the post-holder will work closely with the Climate Change & Sustainability Project Manager and Highways Service to support the role out of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure across the borough.
The Policy Adviser will take a lead role in developing, delivering and promoting policies, strategies and projects to deliver the council’s ambitious Climate Change targets. You will have a recognised degree and an up to date knowledge of legislation, policy and best practice relating to decarbonisation. You will have an ability to apply policy creatively and will have a good working knowledge of carbon neutrality and climate resilience.
The successful applicant will be expected to have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to all aspects of the project. You will have a good knowledge of research methods; tools and data sources to support the coordination and presentation of information and be able to analyse and present complex information both in written and oral form.

The post is based in Number One Riverside and the role will involve working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
