GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide Physical Therapy services to patients of the Driscoll Children's Health System. To assist with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.

• Develops,
  instructs and verifies understanding of home program as appropriate with patients and family

• members.

• Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings

• Participates in departmental meetings.

• Participates in process improvement.

• Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional

• relationship and develop a consistent referral base. Informs manager of any difficulties.

• Maintains billable productivity level as required.

• Generates suggestions for improving work processes.

• Provides Holiday/Weekend on-call/patient-care coverage as needed.

• Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.

• Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.

• Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.

• Supports orientation, competency assessment and precepting activities.

• Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department

• Assumes the role of care coordinator when appropriate

• Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.

• May occasionally participate in a community visit for the benefit of the patient.

• Routinely demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems independently within their hospital role, clinical and non-clinical.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.

• Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.

• Provides clinical supervision/guidance to the following job classes under direction of the departmental Manager: Physical Therapist Assistant, Rehabilitation Attendant, Rehabilitation Support Staff and Student Affiliates.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and five years experience or

• Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and five years experience or

• Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and five years experience

​CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.
REQUIRED:

• Current Texas Licensure as a Physical Therapist

• Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire
