The BD marketing function is in a truly transformational period and transformation requires excellent change management and communications. The Sr. Marketing Communications and Program Manager, Corporate Marketing reports directly to the Vice President, Corporate Marketing, but dotted lines to the whole of the OCMO Leadership Team to ensure all OCMP projects and initiatives are reflected in our communications and management.
Summary
The Sr Marketing Communications and Program Manager, Corporate Marketing partners with the CMO and OCMO Leadership Team to develop and execute the communication and change management strategies to support our strategic imperatives and needle movers. This leader is a thought partner to the OCMO bringing new concepts and ideas to drive marketing excellence by being tuned-in to the CMO office and the strategic direction the team is driving as well as keeping a pulse on what is happening in the macro-marketing world. This team member challenges the organization to set the standard for disseminating messages, driving initiatives and imperatives to engage the marketing function in growth. They are also advanced project managers to help keep our initiatives on track and drive the logistics that make our communications flawless.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Develop and execute the communication and change management strategy, supporting the strategic initiatives of the OCMO. This includes but is not limited to:
Creates and drives communications to the broad marketing community from the CMO or on behalf of the OCMO, the OCMO LT or the Marketing Leadership Team
Listening, interpreting, collaborating and building content for the OCMO LT to communicate progress on key initiatives to targeted audiences (ie: EXLT, President’s Council and the broader marketing community)
Measures and tracks progress against strategies to ensure change efforts embedding across organization
Drive and manage the annual global marketing excellence awards program and global marketing meeting:
Develop and execute the communication strategy and calendar to support to support the event objectives
Collaborate with the marketing community to drive the right content aligned with the corporate, marketing and meeting strategy
Manage all pre- and post-communications supporting the marketing award and GMM process
Create and post daily meeting highlights
Manage and summarize meeting feedback for continuous improvement
Develop and post meeting content on the BD Way of Marketing Maxwell site
Manage and coordinate quarterly global marketing town hall and annual global marketing meetings to deliver the key messages and timely content:
Developing a motivating and compelling agenda in coordination with all OCMO LT teams
Coordinating and scheduling the speakers and their content, including rehearsals
Partnering with stakeholders to manage logistics and details of meetings to ensure meetings, large or small, run smoothly for speakers and attendees
Working with IT to manage the live broadcast and video replay
Managing the Q&A
Creating pre- and post-meeting communications
Maintaining event content on the BD Way of Marketing Maxwell site
Project manage and drive communications for key OCMO initiatives aligned to our strategic imperatives and function needle movers, as requested, to ensure deadlines and outcomes met
Drives the details of the strategic programs to support the sponsors and team captains ensuring actions are documented, driven to completion and results achieved.
Works with team captains and sponsors to move coordinate stakeholders that support these big programs
Translates the results achieved and key learnings into a communications strategy that supports the change management we are trying to drive as an office.
Develop/leverage multiple channels to engage marketing employees and enhance two-way communication
Track and communicate the latest trends in marketing and formulates ideas on how we incorporate at BD
Skills and Competencies
Demonstrates a strong executive presence and can communicate effectively at all levels
Strong knowledge of marketing fundamentals so can effectively communicate strategies and programs for OCMO LT
Has used, and can demonstrate, strong digital marketing capabilities to support our digital marketing transformation
Knowledge of fundamental communication strategy development – what good looks like
Extraordinary listening skills - the ability to translate what was heard into sound bites and effective communications
Excellent written communications skills – the ability to flex the mannerisms and communication style to key leaders in written communications (e.g., write as if the leader wrote it themselves)
Strong project management capabilities to ensure key programs stay on track to deliver on time and with desired outcomes
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to draw out what the person is really trying to say and effective meeting facilitation
Constructive Challenge – able to appropriately challenge senior leaders to drive the desired outcome
Above average skills with Microsoft Office, Yammer, Outlook and multiple digital marketing platforms etc.
Ability to mine survey data and assimilate into key themes and recommendations

Education, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business
Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a communications, digital marketing or marketing role where the associate has demonstrated an ability to create and execute a thoughtful, targeted communication strategy
Project management certification desired
Knowledge of change management fundamentals. Change management certification is a plus
Proven experience in a team development environment and working on cross-functional teams
Demonstrated capability in “influence without authority” role; meeting facilitation certification is a plus
Bias towards continuous improvement, dissatisfaction with the status quo, seeking new and better ways of delivering work product
