The Field Service Representative (FSR) System Engineer is responsible for performing application, network, equipment, and systems oversight for an established DoD and AISR Full Motion Video system. Primary tasks include hands on application, network and systems management, administration and advanced architecture troubleshooting as part of a team of contract and government engineering professionals. The candidate will be responsible for assisting existing Tier I and II personnel in solving basic technical problems, resolving issues directly with DoD community customers, investigating issues, and elevating as necessary. In addition, tasks include network engineering and software repair of the application using various diagnostic tools and testing. The candidate should hold a successful track record supporting DoD network and communications systems, with experience solving problems and advancing requirements in a 24x7 environment. Applicants selected must possess a DOD SECRET with the ability to obtain a Top SECRET/SCI clearance.
This is a Wednesday-Saturday (4 day x10 hours) on-site, 1st shift position supporting the system from 6AM to 4PM. Hours are flexible and can be shifted one hour in either direction.
Major responsibilities will include:
- Support a large-scale full motion video architecture and proactively responding to and fixing issues with the application portal and networking backbone.
- Work with onsite personnel associated to the AISR community.
- Provide internal and external customers with responsive, concise and accurate status or service updates, issues and risks.
- Interact in a technical team environment with software, network and systems engineers.
- Identify documenting, tracking and escalating issues to the other Tier III support groups as necessary.
- Utilize network related protocols and services as well as LAN/WAN implementation and troubleshooting.
- Provide assistance with large scale system and architecture implementation and operational support.
- Support the operation and maintenance of the production equivalent test lab ensuring that the system is up to date and available to replicate and troubleshoot production issues.
- Diagnose system issues and fault isolation.
Technical Requirements:
- An understanding of networks and networking.
- An understanding of Linux. Experience with Cent OS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux a plus.
- Experience with video related technologies.
- Experience managing web-based systems (N-Tier web applications, web services, etc), virtual operating environments (VMWare, Xen, Hyper-V), and Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Familiarity with container-based architectures including container orchestration using Kubernetes a plus.
- Experience with storage environments (Fibre, iSCSI, configuration/troubleshooting).
- Demonstrated ability to identify and effectively report software bugs in a production system.
- Must have demonstrated rigorous troubleshooting skills on a large scale information system.
- Multi-disciplined and flexible enough to support both software and hardware based solutions.
- DoD experience in a technical operations role a plus.
- Familiarity with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) concepts of operation and the network architecture employed to disseminate Full Motion Video a plus.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree, or two-year degree with equivalent experience in electronics, computer science, information systems a minimum of 2 years related experience. DOD or military operations experience a strong plus. Ability to comply with Company standard practice as it applies to field. Detail-oriented, ability to communicate effectively and perform routine installation and maintenance campaigns. Ability to adapt to remote field sites. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to interface with all levels of personnel.
