Acorn by Synergie (Finance Recruitment) is assisting their Chard based client with the recruitment of a Payroll Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for clients accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage and maintain employee records, including wages, benefits, and tax information
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to payroll
- Work closely with our team of accountants to provide accurate and reliable payroll information
- Support with year-end payroll processing and reporting
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Assist with payroll data entry, verification and reconciliation
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and provide excellent customer service
- Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and provide guidance to the team
- Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Payroll Manager
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Prior experience in payroll processing preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll software such as QuickBooks or ADP
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Prior experience in an accounting firm is a plus
