Agricultural Engineer / Mechanic

Salary: £33,050 - £42,000 per annum + Overtime at time and a half (reviewed after 3 month probation)

Monday - Friday (42.5 hours), weekend availability

We have an exciting opportunity for an Agricultural Engineer / Mechanic to join a dynamic team in the Mid Devon Area.

Due to the continued growth of the business and continued customer expansion, we are looking for a self-motivated Agricultural Engineer / Mechanic who thrives on independence and is eager to expand his/her technical skills.

The role on offer is varied and will require working within the depot and out in the field. The successful Agricultural Engineer/ Mechanic will be involved in supporting customer needs on all types of Agricultural machinery, to include fault finding, servicing and repairs.

Main Duties of Agricultural Engineer / Mechanic:

*Fault finding and repair mechanical and hydraulic issues in agricultural machinery and equipment.

*Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and inspection.

*Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools and power tools.

*Check and service all machinery at correct intervals

*Fabricating parts as needed using a variety of tools and machinery

*Keeping records of inspections, work performed, and parts used

*Always adhering to workplace health and safety regulations

*Liaising with suppliers to order parts required

*Plan and prioritise work to ensure correct machinery is ready when needed

Qualifications and Experience of Agricultural Engineer / Mechanic:

*City & Guilds or formally qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in vehicle repair & maintenance preferred or track record of previous relevant experience.

*Electrical, hydraulic and mechanical fitting knowledge

*Experience with CNH products and agricultural equipment is an advantage, but not essential.

*Background in Agriculture, Plant machinery, HGV or similar industries highly desired

Job Duties:

• Ensure that facility maintenance is carried out to a high standard, including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and building structure.

• Introduce and oversee energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs.

• Oversee the maintenance, efficiency, and availability of manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to production.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in a manufacturing facilities management role with a strong focus on operational efficiency, safety compliance, and sustainability.
• Experience in ensuring and documenting regulatory compliance, particularly in collaboration with health and safety teams.
• NEBOSH Diploma and ideally an IWFM level 4 qualification, preferably gained or being pursued in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience managing HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, with an understanding of the safety aspects associated with each system.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
