Purpose of the Job
The role plays a critical role in shaping the long-term vision and strategic direction of the organization. This position involves analysing market trends, competitive landscapes, and internal capabilities to identify growth opportunities, mitigate risks, and enhance overall organizational performance. The Senior Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, executive leadership, and external stakeholders to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive business success.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Planning:Lead the development and refinement of the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market dynamics.
Drive the strategy formulating process and strategy workshops in order to enhance business position.
Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities.
Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on data-driven insights.
Assess risks associated with strategic decisions and develop mitigation strategies.
Stay informed about geopolitical, economic, and regulatory changes that may impact the organization.
- Market Research, Analysis and Business Intelligence:Oversee market research initiatives, including customer segmentation, market sizing, and competitive benchmarking.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic decision-making.
Analyse data to identify gaps and areas for improvement, translating findings into actionable strategies.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather business intelligence and competitive intelligence.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Use data analytics and modelling to support strategic initiatives and drive informed decision-making.
- Strategic Initiatives:Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic projects.
Evaluate investment opportunities and assess their alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities.
Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement:Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including executives, industry experts, and partners.
Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the board of directors.
Qualifications
- Education: MBA or an equivalent degree
- Experience: 12-15 years of relevant finance, commercial, research and strategic / corporate planning experience
- Specialized knowledge: Familiar with strategy frameworks and tools, ability to develop business case & financial modelling
- Skills and Abilities: Communication skills, leadership/management skills, planning, organizing, attention-to-detail, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability, advanced Microsoft Office; problem-solving, critical thinking, team player)
