The Role
As a Senior Project Accountant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Working on behalf of Babcock Rail and the Rail Systems Alliance Scotland (RSAS - comprising of 3 Alliance partners; Babcock Rail, Arcadis, & Network Rail) we are looking to appoint a Senior Project Accountant to the Operations, Projects and Commercial teams across Babcock Rail, Babcock International Group, & Alliance stakeholders (Network Rail & Arcadis).
Day-to-day, you'll be ensuring compliance with all stakeholder reporting requirements, production of accurate and timely project financial information, ensuring robust financial controls, maximum efficiency of processes and reporting, and strong corporate governance in line with Babcock Group & Alliance Customer & Stakeholder requirements:
- Work with the Senior Finance Manager, Project, Operations, and Commercial teams in improving and maintaining the processes used to operate and control project financial performance.
- Liaise appropriately with all Alliance stakeholders.
- Managing the interests of the parent company, this will entail being aware of & managing both the peer / joint stakeholder & supplier / customer relationships.
- Deputise for the Senior Finance Manager as appropriate.
- Critical awareness of target costs ensuring compliance and rigour.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to Cadder Yard, Glasgow, on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Senior Project Accountant:
- Strong business / process analysis and excel skills.
- Excellent influencing and communication skills at all levels.
- Experience of working with Commercial and Project Operational teams.
- Project / Construction / Rail specific knowledge and experience is advantageous but, not essential.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Accountant:
- You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.
