RAF Benson is known for its helicopter operations and training, but it's also home to the Grob Tutor T1 training aircraft. It plays a significant role in joint military operations, humanitarian missions, and the training of pilots and aircrew.
The role
As an Operations Clerk, you'll play a unique role in ensuring smooth flight planning, which enhances safety and efficiency in daily operations. Your work is crucial for our pilots, air traffic controllers, and flight operations teams.
You will undergo a 1-week initial training, followed by a fully funded 1-week visit to another RAF site for hands-on training with experienced operations clerks. After completing the training, you'll receive ongoing support to ensure you're fully prepared for the role.
Day-to-day, you'll plan flights for the following day and provide pilots with weather updates to inform them about flying conditions. You'll ensure smooth coordination of flight operations using Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STARS). You will also:
- Make sure the latest publications, maps, charts, and documents are updated and accessible in the Ops room.
- You'll create briefing materials for the next day's flights, organize and display aircraft assignments, weather information, and Royal Flight data for the daily flight schedule.
- Assist in post-crash management by providing administrative support to the Duty Authoriser.
- List statistical data and understand the flying operations system databases.
This role is full time and is based on site at RAF Benson (OX10 6AA). Between Monday to Friday, the working hours are 0830 - 1730.
Essential experience of the Operations Clerk
- Experienced IT skills (Microsoft office: Word, Excel)
- Driving Licence
- Developed communicational skills (Written and verbal)

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
