Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Environmental Health Officer - Grade 1 (Grade K) to join our team. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding public health and promoting environmental sustainability in our community. You will be responsible for enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting inspections, and providing guidance and educational resources to businesses and the general public.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, drinking water sources, and recreational facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Investigate complaints related to environmental hazards, noise pollution, and waste management, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks
Provide education and training to businesses and individuals on best practices for maintaining a healthy environment, including proper waste disposal and pest control
Collaborate with other agencies and departments to coordinate emergency responses and public health campaigns
Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the development of policies and guidelines to mitigate environmental health risks
Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, enforcement actions, and compliance measures
Keep up-to-date with the latest research, regulations, and trends in environmental health and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, or a related field
Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental health and safety
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate health risks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
Proficient in using computer software and applications relevant to environmental health management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various worksites
Hours Per Week: 35.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £28.88
Location: Tower Hill, Central London
