This is an exciting opportunity to join the South East Op Courage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. As a Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker, you, as a part of a multi disciplinary team,will primarily deliver the service across Hampshire with the occasional need to support colleagues in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire regions.

You will provide specialistassessment and formulation for veterans and transitioning military personnel presenting with complex mental health, substance misuse and social care issues. You will deliver psycho-educational packages as well referring on to relevant services/agencies and offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to multidisciplinary mental health staff, third-sector agencies and other, non-professional carers.



This is a busy service and your self-care is important to us. We offer a blended model of delivery including face to face and online and there are opportunities for home working to ensure a good work / life balance. We will also consider part-time/flexible working patterns.

· The post holder will have clinical responsibility for a case load as specified by the Service Manager or Team Lead.

· The post holder will be responsible for delivering specific mental health interventions within their scope of practice and will work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver the plan of care in line with the NICE and other relevant standards and guidelines.

· The post holder will be responsible for devising high quality holistic mental health assessments and risk assessments/safety plans/crisis prevention plans with people on their caseload.

· The post holder will have leadership skills and as an experienced mental health practitioner will direct and supervise junior staff and/or students within their area of responsibility

· To assertively engage with clients, striving at all times to develop good therapeutic relationships.

· To establish and maintain good liaison with colleagues working in emotional wellbeing and mental health services in the locality including veterans’ charities and other 3rd sector organisations

The Reconnect team aims to support individuals with identified needs on release from prison or returning to Hampshire from an out of area prison location. Reconnect will operate under the wider auspices of the Hampshire and IOW Liaison & Diversion Service.

Do you believe that a person’s health needs, and past experiences can be linked to their criminal offending? By identifying and reducing health needs can vulnerable people be supported to make positive changes and reduce the risk of reoffending?

You will work with Peer Support Workers who have lived experience to engage with those service users who are most difficult to engage to identify and support their unmet needs as they leave prison. With good leadership skills and compassion, you will provide a supportive network for peer
support workers to develop and grow a peer led approach to bridge the known health inequalities of prison users.

As a successful candidate, you will work closely with criminal justice partners to coordinate support for individuals in the community, on release from prison according to their identified needs. As the Engagement Lead in Hampshire, you will take a leadership role in the recruitment, training, inducting, and line management of the Peer Support Workers across the service, being responsible for the daily management of the Peer Support Workers and their supervision.


• To support with the ongoing quality assurance of the Reconnect within the Liaison and Diversion Service in Hampshire.
• To supervise Peer Support Workers in their role of using their own lived experience to support those with health vulnerabilities who are currently in contact with criminal justice
services.
• To proactively make preparations with persons with assessed health vulnerabilities, as identified by clinicians, that are due to leave HMP Winchester to assertively support their engagement with services and support networks in their local community.
• To use a person-centred approach to promote the continuity of established, positive working relationships during pre-sentencing phase of the criminal justice system. The post-holder will strive to maintain and build upon this existing relationship post sentencing. This will involve allocating cases and tasks where appropriate.

We’re looking for an Advance Support Time & Recovery (STR) Worker to join our Hampshire Liaison & Diversion Service.

You’re enthusiastic, dynamic, and passionate about making a difference to the lives and life chances of young people. You’ll develop and strengthen links with other stakeholders, such as the youth offending and neighbourhood police teams, and be an advocate for young people.

The Advanced STR worker will support custody practitioners in conducting triaging and screenings in custody and escalating to a practitioner if acute risk or complex needs are present. They will also be responsible in supporting the wider STR workforce with advice and clinical support across the Hampshire criminal justice systems.

Overseas sponsorship is not available for this role, and you must have the right to work in the UK.

Work alongside Liaison and Diversion practitioners as part of the Liaison and Diversion Team under the direction of the team. Work with people who are within criminal justice systems providing support with practical concerns or difficulties that might be affecting their health and wellbeing.

To undertake need led assessment and reviews using trauma informed approaches for specified vulnerable groups within police custody, the courts, prison, and the community. Keeping them fully informed of the range of services and support available to them and the choices they have. To have a key focus on our vulnerability groups but also be aware that research shows that mental health problems are experienced by 70% of drugs users and 86% of alcohol users and being mindful of how to gain support for those individuals with the court, volunteer attendance and community setting.

To write court reports and assist the courts in identifying community disposal roles as opposed to custodial sentences.

To provide effective evidence-based screenings of complex service users, building a therapeutic trusting relationship, signposting and referring to appropriate services, liaising with families, carers, and other professionals where appropriate to ensure that service users needs are met.

Operate flexibly countywide in the community, custody suites and magistrates’ courts.

To work independently with caseload work managed and goals agreed that are reviewed regularly through supervision.

The role is flexible across the Hampshire area according to locality and custody/court need, so the candidate is required to have flexibility to travel to localities across Hampshire as per roster. The advanced STR worker may also hold a small caseload of complex service users to support their engagement with community services, this may include such services as drug and alcohol. You will be able to work independently on this caseload and therefore must have good time management skills.

We're looking for someone who is educated to degree level in health and social care or equivalent professional or vocational qualifications in health and social care subjects or equivalent level of knowledge and/or practical experience of working in a health or social care setting. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join OpCourage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. We are looking for anenthusiastic and motivated Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/ CBT therapist to join our specialist flagship service.

This role ispart of multi-disciplinary team offering mental health treatment and wellbeing support within a stepped care model to veterans.

Your role will combine both clinical and service development responsibilities.  You will provide specialist assessments, formulations and evidence-based treatment for PTSD and C-PTSD, in both individual and group settings. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge/skills in Trauma focused CBT, EMDR, NET and Compassion Focused Therapy.  

You will also contribute to the supervision and line-management of qualified psychologists, trainee and assistant psychologistsandCBT therapistsas appropriate. There will be opportunities to contribute to service development, development of our treatment pathways, research and service evaluation.

• To support the Clinical Service Manager and Operational Service Manager in managing and providing an exemplary and comprehensive specialist assessment and treatment for all eligible veterans referred with PTSD and other mental health problems. 
• Support the multi-disciplinary team to develop and embed psychological support across the stepped care model as appropriate
• Provide expert assessment and management advice of clinical difficulties utilising the most up-to-date knowledge, validated assessment / diagnostic tools and interventions.  
• Provide clinical supervision for therapists in the assessment, management and rehabilitation of veterans with mental health needs through the use of the most up-to-date clinical protocols for therapeutic interventions and management.  
• To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of OpCourage through the deployment of professional skills in service management, research, service evaluation and audit.

4. A minimum of two years full time experience, or equivalent, in a relevant role

About the Job
• Monday -Friday 9am-5pm based primarily within court settings, but also meeting service users within the community
• You will support people within court and custody settings who are typically hard to engage, you will talk to families and friends, to gain a holistic understanding of the client’s circumstances and facilitate their access to support services, providing individualised support with practical problems or difficulties that may be affecting their health and wellbeing.
• An empathetic advocate of service users, you will promote their rights and responsibilities, building a rapport, whilst maintaining appropriate and transparent boundaries. You will be emotionally resilient, able to cope with people potentially displaying challenging behaviour and distressing situations
• To provide help and advice to service users that includes housing, social isolation and exclusion, education, debt management and employment problems etc.
• To provide the court with written and verbal information pertaining to the individual in a timely fashion to inform disposal
• To work closely and build links with all referring agencies within the custody suite, court and probation acting as a single point of contact for health
• To work autonomously, with the ability to organise and manage own time according to delegated workload

• Focus on developing quality and excellence within the Hampshire and IOW liaison and diversion service.
• 40% of your role will be to attend police custody suites and magistrates’ courts and provide assessments, advice and identify robust care pathways, for individuals where a potential health vulnerability has been identified.
• 60% of your focus will be on auditing, supervising, and assessing competencies of identified staff members to ensure safe, effective and high quality delivery of commissioned expectations.
• The post holder is required to be highly visible and will role model and provide training to embed best practice.
• To work closely with the Clinical and Operational Leads to delivery on projects, identified areas for quality improvement and in supporting the team to adapt to the changing arena in which liaison and diversion sits.

Our service operates in police custody from 9am – 9pm, 7 days a week using a combination of early shifts, late shifts and long days. This role will be based Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm to support with delivery of the service alongside the Clinical and Operational Leads.

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist/CBT therapist looking for an opportunity to hone your clinical skills within a specialist service? If so, our flagship specialist veterans service is keen to meet you.

Op Courage is the NHS Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. Our service covers the central area of Southern England and is led by Dr Deborah Lee. The successful candidate for this post will work primarily in Hampshire, based in our hub in Portsmouth

A passion for supporting our ex Armed Forces community is essential. We offer training and support to enable our staff to work with this community.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and psychological treatment for veterans with complex mental health issues, including PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, substance misuse and anger issues. You will be supported with training to offer evidence-based treatment following NICE guidance, including CBT and TF-CBT, EMDR, NET and Compassion Focused Therapy.

We pride ourselves on offering excellent clinical support within the team including access to daily senior clinicians on a rota, weekly or fortnightly individual supervision, peer supervision and specialist CFT and EMDR group supervision. We offer a blended model of treatment delivery, including face to face and online; there are opportunities for home working to ensure a good work/life balance; and we will consider part-time/flexible working patterns

You will:
• provide specialist psychological assessments of clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.


• formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of our veterans' mental health issues based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods anchored in evidence-based practice.
• evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual’s presentation.
• undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professionals on the psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
• attend regular multi-disciplinary meetings to help facilitate the smooth running of the service and build relationships and shared learning between staff members across the wider team.
• contribute up to 20% of your time to wider service delivery processes on a topic to be agreed between you and your line manager (for example, Service User Forums; EDI projects, etc.)
