Rowan Ward in Prospect Park Hospital is a mixed 20 bed Ward that provides care for older adults with mainly dementia and other mental health conditions such as depression. Based in Reading, located close to the amenities of the town centre and a leafy park, the ward works closely with patients and families to help them to identify their needs and participate actively in their care, providing a place of empathy, kindness, and compassion.

Under the supervision of a member of the ward staff /qualified practitioner the post holder will plan, coordinate, and implement a range of individual / person centred and group activities designed to meet the social and recreational needs of in-patients in particular older adults with dementia and other mental health conditions.


The post holder willbe requiredto use their initiative when working independently on the wards and are expected to report any clinical progress, concerns or change to a qualified practitioner.

• Todemonstratea knowledge and awareness of current clinical issues in relation to people currently experiencing mental health problems.

• To take the lead in planning a range of therapeutic activities that areappropriate forthe needs of patients in agreement with the multi-disciplinary team.

• To be able toestablisheffective therapeutic engagement and relationships with inpatients and carers.

• To be able to assess patient’s well-being during activities and social interactions andmonitorprogress.

• To adapt activities to meet the needs of people and provide a calming, de-escalating manner always.

• To provide verbal and written feedback to relevant multidisciplinary team members following activities asrequired.

• To complete robust documentation of each session within the patients’ care record following an activity.

The service works alongsideHealth; Social Care; Education and the Voluntary Sector.The team was developed as a community multi-disciplinary model which offers easy accessibility foridentifiedfamilies and carers. The service model was developed in close consultation with families, carers and young people and they are at the heart of its implementation and development.


An Administratorwillsupport the team whowork with individuals with the most complex needs and their families to make sure they have the support they need at the right time, in a co-ordinated way. TheKeyworkingTeamhelp families experience a reduction in stress and uncertainty and an increase in stability. • To act as one of the key contact points for theKeyworkingService to support coordination of C(E)TRs with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and update the DSR. This will involve direct contact with service users and their families/carers and a range of professionals who support them.

• To be one of the first contacts with service users and their families/carers providing non-clinical advice and guidance around care and education treatment reviews.

• Shift Lead 08:00 – 19:00
• Weekend/Bank holidays 08:00 – 17:00
• Night Shift 20:15 – 08:15

The Berkshire Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic band 6 mental health practitioner to join their innovative and dynamic team. The EIP team is specialist service, with teams embedded within each locality. The team work with individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis or who are presenting with an at-risk mental state, between the ages of 18 to 65.

We operate a Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm service, although some flexibility is required. This advert is for a role covering Reading, based at Prospect House.

You will have a clear passion for supporting people and their family in their recovery. You will work with our integrated team of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychological therapists, and STR workers to empower and support our clients to understand their experiences and return to college, university or employment. We work with our clients for up to 3 years and the majority do get transferred back to their GP, therefore it is a rewarding team to work with.
• To act as named worker, offering evidence based interventions for psychosis, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead. The role is focused on working collaboratively with the client and their family/friends on their recovery, developing a relapse management plan.
• To undertake comprehensive assessment of health and social needs together with the client and their family to implement a plan of care and provision of NICE recommended interventions.

As the successful candidate, you will be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital providinga specialistdietetic input into thesurgical wardsworking closely with your MDT colleagues including consultants,surgeonsand specialist nurses.

As part of theteamyou will have opportunities to be involved with the training of dietetic students, other dietitians and healthcare professions. There are also opportunities to get involved with audit,researchand service development


You would be joining a team of over 25committed and welcoming dietitians, who work in a range of specialist areas at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Reading is the largest town in the UK with great shopping,nightlife, restaurantsand London is less than half an hour by train.

You will be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading working closely with the oncology consultants and specialist nurses to assess and advice patients. Our service uses a range of consultation settings to support our patients at all stages along their treatment pathway. Some of the areas of work include:

• Being part of the MDT in assessing nutritional status

• Advising and supporting patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings

• Supporting the training of dietetic students

• Supporting peerswith specialist knowledge

• Implementing Quality Improvement programme to lead service development

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced full-time Senior Mental Health Act Administrator to support in the provision of an effective administration service within our busy Mental Health Act Team.

The Mental Health Act Administration team deliver both an efficient and effective service, ensuring that the Trust is fully compliant with the relevant aspects of the MHA 1983 and the Code of Practice 2015. The successful candidate will work as part of a motivated team supervising the Mental Health Act Administrators and ensuring the smooth running of the MHA administration office.

The role will involve, amongst other duties; corresponding with patients and their relatives, ensuring that accurate records are maintained, collating data and support reporting thus enabling the data to be used to its maximum potential. In addition, the role involves communicating professionally both within Berkshire Healthcare and externally with partner organisations; with multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers, advocates, solicitors, the Mental Health Tribunal, Care Quality Commission, the police and social services and other public bodies.
• The post holder willbe responsible forleadingandsupervisingthe Mental Health Act Administrators in the legal administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983. This rolerequires highdegree of planning andorganisationalskillsto meet specific and tight deadlines.

• The post holder will be expected to workonthe delivery of an efficient and fully compliant Mental Health Actadministrationservice.

• The role requires the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff throughout the Trust as well as partnerorganisations.

• To be available and lead as a resource to all professional staff seeking information/advice on the MHA 1983 and Code of Practice.
