Hours are very sociable hours for a hospitality environment - with earliest starts usually at 8am and latest finish usually around 8pm with one late night a month (9pm).

We're looking for a Head Chef at Richmond Village Bede to lead our catering department in delivering a premium service across our restaurant, care home catering to serviced suites and apartments, meals at the spa and for any events that may take place.



What your typical day involves

• Providing high quality and nourishing meals to residents across the Village which comprises of the care home, catering for serviced suites, villagers who have booked a meal in the Restaurant/Spa or for a meal to be taken across to their apartments or for other specific events
• Leading and advising kitchen staff on menu and food preparation
• Taking responsibility for all food stuffs etc. in the kitchen, including budgeting, ordering, checking, storage, preparation and disposal of waste food
• Ensuring a welcoming, safe and compliant environment for our residents to dine in
• Working collaboratively with other department heads and function organisers for special events
• Consistently delivering a high standard of food and service while working to a fixed budget.

Who we're looking for.

Passionate about food, you'll have significant experience working in a professional kitchen managing multiple teams, ideally catering for customers with special dietary requirements. You'll have the ability to lead and motivate a team, sharing with them your knowledge of fine cooking techniques, methods and health and safety procedures - ideally with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds award. With an organised and innovative approach to your work, you'll lead by example to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal.

As a Domiciliary Care Assistant, you'll help residents to truly get the most out of life and in return we'll support you to get the most out of your career. We're currently looking for Assistants at all levels to provide a mix of domiciliary, residential, nursing and dementia care as required.

Whilst no two days will be the same in this role, as we adapt to the needs of our residents across the village. It's likely you'll be covering a variety of duties across our onsite apartments and onsite care home, such as:

• Assisting residents with personal care duties such as bathing, dressing and continence care in their own homes within the Village. Providing the highest standards of care, you'll champion the dignity, and independence of all our residents
• Supporting at mealtimes where appropriate; serving meals in their apartments or within the care home. This might involve supporting them to walk, transferring them in a wheelchair or using a hoist
• Helping to promote mental and physical activity of residents through hobbies, interests or activities within the village
• Answering emergency calls when care alert system is activated
• Working with the Domiciliary Care Manager and other external professionals such as GPs, Chiropodists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists where appropriate
• Admin duties: keeping accurate records - maintaining full documentation at all times to show care given, activities and any changes to their health

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

You have experience of working in a care or dementia setting or you may have a Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), but above all, you'll be passionate about caring for others, respecting people's choices and always putting their safety and welfare first. A great listener with a positive outlook, you're confident talking to both residents and their families and understand that confidentiality is very important in what we do. Always ready to lead by example and support the wider team, you'll deliver care with dignity and compassion and work to put a smile on our residents' faces every day.

As a Driver, you'll organise and facilitate a daily transport schedule that meets the needs of residents within the village, providing scheduled and on-demand trips such as shopping trips, places of interest and medical appointments.



You'll help us make health happen by:

• Collecting and delivering items of equipment to and from the village as required using company vehicles
• Carrying out scheduled checks on company vehicles, ensuring all documentation is in order and that vehicles are cleaned and have an adequate supply of fuel
• Reporting any vehicle defects and investigating and documenting the findings as required
• Completing journey logs after each use and monitoring Tax and MOT expiry dates, informing the Administrator near due dates
• Ensuring vehicles are locked and that alarms are activated when parking

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

As a Driver, it's essential that you hold a full, clean UK driving licence and have experience in a customer focused environment. You're polite and courteous with a can-do approach to your work. Flexible and adaptable, you're a skilled and responsible driver that has an ability to build a trusting relationship with people. First aid trained with previous experience driving groups of people, using wheelchair restraint systems and vehicle tail-lifts would be advantageous.

• Assisting residents with personal care duties such as bathing, showering and dressing in accordance with care plans.
• Supporting and assisting with shopping and meal preparation where appropriate
• Supporting residents to undertake daily tasks such as bed making, maintaining clean and laundered clothes, etc
• Helping to promote mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, engaging in hobbies and interests or enabling them to interact with other residents
• Working with the Domiciliary Care Manager and other external professionals such as GPs, Chiropodists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists
• Admin duties: keeping accurate records - maintaining full documentation at all times to show care given, activities and any changes to their health

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

Ideally, you"ll have experience of working in a care setting or you may have a Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, however this isn"t essential as full training will be provided. Above all, you"ll be passionate for caring for others, respecting people"s choices and always putting their safety and welfare first. A great listener with a positive outlook, you"re confident talking to both residents and their families and understand that confidentiality is very important in what we do. Always ready to lead by example and support the wider team, you"ll deliver care with dignity and compassion and working to put a smile on our residents face every day.

Because we care for vulnerable people, we'll need you to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
