Security is an integral part of the larger Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network. The Security team aims to offer and deliver a flexible, value added and professional service to meet the needs and expectations of students, staff and guests.

We are currently looking to recruit a Security Officer for our night shift. The successful candidate will have experience in security or a related customer service-based area and will understand that our students, staff and guests are at the forefront of all that we do. Experience in the use of and monitoring access control/CCTV systems/fire alarm systems would also be an advantage as would a current SIA DS license.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate their customer focused skills, combined with effective written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to maintain the highest personal professional standards representing the front facing service of the University and to demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances, to provide a clean, safe and secure environment for all students, staff and guests of the University. The ability to assess situations and respond efficiently, coherently and effectively is an essential requirement for this role. Candidates will be motivated, target driven and keen to learn and develop new or existing professional skills.

A shift pattern of 4 nights on / 4 nights off is worked within these posts. You will not be required to work a mixture of days and nights. Start and finish times may vary to maintain the overall flexibility required of the University security staff.

18:00hrs to 06:00hrs on a four-on-four off shift pattern
