You will be part of the Area 9 Maintenance & Response contract with Colas, working on behalf of National Highways. As a Technology Engineer you will deliver proactive maintenance and faults assigned and will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare and health and safety of yourself and those working around. You will take an active role in ensuring your own skills and knowledge are up to date and fit for purpose.

Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Technology Engineer you will be responsible for Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities. You will be responsible for delivering technology maintenance and fault response over the course of your shift. You will report directly to the technology supervisor on health and safety and progress during shifts they are working on. You will be responsible for reporting to technology team leader/ supervisor on activities undertaken during shifts they work. You will enthusiastically identify early opportunities and highlight them to management to the benefit of Colas and their customers. You will adjust work allocations in response to emergency incidents, to ensure both restore times and maintenance obligations are met. You will be responsible for collaborating with key supply chain partners, other areas of Colas and with our client to deliver exceptional service levels to customers. Ensure this collaboration takes place on their shifts. You will help manage the key interface between the technology maintenance contract and the National highways Control Centre. You will work closely with the performance team to ensure faults are dealt with intelligently. You will be responsible for delivering elements of the maintenance requirements plan assigned to them. You will adopt a forward-thinking approach by identifying potential innovative techniques and products for the delivery of technology maintenance. Highlight these to management. You will perform other duties as may be reasonably required. you will work from Monday to Friday shift pattern alternating from days and nights as required. Weekend standby and working maybe required as part of the role.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will have had HERS Sector 8 training relevant to the role, this is essential. You will have vocational qualifications in technology related discipline to satisfy sector scheme requirements. Previous experience working as a highway’s technology engineer is essential for this role. Understanding of National Highways technology systems including TPMS, COBS and its subsystems, display equipment, CCTV, digital storage devices and motorway communications is desirable. You must be computer literate and fully conversant with MS Office suite. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, forward-thinking individual and an effective communicator who has previous experience of working within high performing teams. A full UK driving licence is required for the role. Also, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) Clearance is required.
