At the full performance level you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) servicing the employee's workers' compensation needs at assigned U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) organizations within CBP's scope of authority and is a liaison between CBP and the Department of Labor's Office of Workers Compensation Programs (OWCP) District Offices.
This position starts at a salary of $59,966.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $94,317.00 (GS-11, Step 10) with promotion potential to $94,317.00 Per Year (GS-11 Step 10).
At the full performance level typical duties will include:
- Implementing standardized Workers Compensation (WC) Branch procedures and processes governing facility workers' compensation program activities and methods for use in evaluating employee benefits or benefits activities.
- Completing technical review, analysis and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate processing of WC claims.
- Providing guidance and counsel to facility injury compensation coordinators, employees, managers and supervisors regarding their rights, responsibilities and requirements under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) immediately following the first report of work-related injury or illness.
- Evaluating all claims against the five required elements of a compensable claim and prepares written statement of challenge to notify OWCP of the deficiencies when any of the five elements are not met with factual and objective evidence.
