Exciting Director of Government & Strategic Communications Role Your new company Come and join a leading public affairs and government relations advisory offering some of Australia's most experienced and effective advocates. This firm can cover the full suite of services and tactics required - across government relations, media engagement, community consultation, creative production, market research and strategic communications. Your new role The Director of Government and Strategic Communications plays a pivotal role in strategically enhancing their reputation and relationships with key industry and government stakeholders. This position involves cultivating relationships with industry and government leaders, developing and coordinating an external relations framework, and delivering strategy. As a leader in the advisory, the incumbent actively participates in strategic decision-making and communications to take the government body's strategy to the next level.
Strategic Partnership Engagement : Providing high-level advice to key members of the Senior Executive Team regarding strategic partnership engagement requirements.
Relationship Cultivation : Building and maintaining strong relationships with key industry and government leaders. Advocating for business interests and fostering collaboration.
External Relations Framework : Developing and coordinating the agencies' external relations framework. Ensuring alignment with strategic goals and enhancing the university's reputation.
Government Relations Strategy : Leading the delivery of the government relations strategy. Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to influence policy and legislation that aligns with the organization's objectives.
Stakeholder Management : Engaging with government officials, legislators, and other key policy stakeholders. Advocating for the university's interests and building partnerships.
What you'll need to succeed
A strong understanding of government relations, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
Proven experience in cultivating relationships with industry and government leaders.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Senior former chief of staff or senior adviser to government minister/premier or shadow minister/leader of the opposition - state/federal/City Council or combo
Strategic thinking and the ability to drive initiatives at a senior level.
Close/connected to the NSW state ALP and history of connection
ALP election/campaign experience
