Construction Manager

A Tier 1 contractor is hiring for a Construction Manager for a 8 month duration with the potential of being taken onto another project. The project will take place in the Cambridge. Pay ranges from £300-350cis per day.

About the role of Construction Manager:

The role will be managing the CAT A and B fit out of a 4 storey office - worth £18m.

Responsibilities for the Construction Manager:

• Strong people management skills, experience in leading large teams, including solid technical knowledge of short-term programming, construction methodology.
• Experience managing all phases of fit out packages, including health and safety, quality, and costs
• Knowledge of internal design, detailing, and structural design standards, as well as experience designing facades for different types of projects
• Understanding of internal materials, manufacturing methods, installation, and testing
• Ability to communicate effectively with architects, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders, and to present design concepts clearly
• Working with other professionals, such as engineers and architects, to achieve project objectives
• Oversee day-to-day operations on construction sites. Making sure all health & safety protocols are in place.
• Manage risks, with any issues that arise are solved promptly and efficiently.

Senior Estimator - Cambridge - £70k-£80k

This Main Contractor are seeking to recruit an Experienced Estimator to join their established team of professionals, based in their Cambridge office. The successful candidate will be joining one of the largest family run construction business dealing with a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects across multiple sectors.

About the role-

- For this role you will need to be ambitious, self motivated and able to work both independently and within our team of like minded individuals. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and you will need to hold a clean driving license. You need to be a conscientious, organised and a pro-active team player, highly motivated and committed to achieving company targets and always focused on the task in hand.

Responsibilities-

- Producing cost plans from RIBA stage 0 (elementally on historic data) to stage 3 (fully measured and rated). Ideally the ability to price from first principals

- Taking-off from drawings using Autodesk Design Review to produce detailed cost plans and quantity checks on the produced BQs

- Leading the tender enquiry process

- Allocation of elemental BQ items into works packages

- Subcontractor comparisons & identifying scope gaps

Requirements -

- Good organisation skills

- Computer skills - need to be proficient on Microsoft Office packages. Experience with Causeway and Excel estimating software is desired.

- Excellent spoken and written English

- A good, clear telephone manner is essential as there will be client interface during the course of the daily works, including Teams meetings.
