We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team.

You will be part of a close, dedicated team working with Pharmacy and Research Staff in an essential role to help minimise waste and improve medicines efficacy with our high cost cancer drugs.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Trials Dispensing Assistant Technical Officer. Clinical trial experience is not essential for this role, but would be desirable. We are a very experienced, friendly team and you will be supported in your development into an exciting and fulfilling role.

• To participate in the Set-Up of new clinical trials opened at MTW Trust.

• To dispense clinical trial medication in accordance with departmental SOPs and clinical trial regulations.

• To receive clinical trial drug deliveries in accordance with departmental and clinical trial specific SOPs. To ensure that stock received is correct, the correct paperwork has been received as outlined in the delivery note or trial specific SOP. To ensure that appropriate temperature monitoring has been completed during shipment and to take appropriate actions on the event of a temperature excursion which will include quarantining stock and liaising with the pharmacy clinical trials team.

• Undertaking regular stock checks and ordering trial stock using trial specific documentation where appropriate.

• Support the pharmacy clinical trials team in collating clinical trial workload statistics.

• Monitoring the temperature-controlled areas for clinical trial medication within the pharmacy department and at ward level where appropriate. To take appropriate action in the event of a temperature excursion following sponsor guidelines.

• Safe and appropriate handling patient returned clinical trial medication. Ensuring where appropriate accountability logs are updated with details of returns.

• To be able to follow procedures, current clinical trials legislation and ensure working as per Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidance. and Safety at Work Act and COSHH.

The post holder will provide technical and practical support to facilitate the delivery of simulation-based education (SBE) for the Medical Education Department.

The Medical Education Department is responsible to provide a wide range of medical education services to meet the requirements of the General Medical Council, Health Education England, Kent Surrey and Sussex (HEE KSS), associated Medical Schools and the Trust.

The successful candidate will require IT skills as well as a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. They will be required to work effectively as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. They need to be able to multi-task and quickly adapt to changing situations. Experience of working in a Higher/Further Education environment or the NHS would be an advantage.

The job involves working cross site in both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells according to the simulation training schedule. There will be a requirement for the post holder to be flexible in their working arrangements.

The Simulation & Clinical Skills Technician will work as a member of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Medical Education (MTWme) Team to support the delivery and growth of Simulation Based Education (SBE).

The role demands a high level of technical, administrative and communication skills that will support all aspects of Simulation. The post holder will be working cross site to ensure the maintenance of the Simulation suites and clinical skills rooms are upheld.

There is a requirement to input information into the Simulation database and operate the computer and audio/video (A/V) technology, including all manikins and Simulation suite equipment. Setting up and taking down the manikins and clinical skills equipment for specific training sessions will be required.

The post holder will have responsibility for the preparation of the training environments, managing equipment stock levels, maintaining equipment and ensuring resources are available for all training programmes.

This position involves working closely with the Simulation Lead and Simulation Faculty to provide a safe, well equipped skills training environment.

Clinical Fellow in Gynaecology Oncology

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Clinical Fellow in Gynaecology Oncology at the Maidstone Hospital. This is a 6 months post, with option of extending to 12 months post The post is ideal for ‘Out of Program Experience’ (OOPE) for a Specialty Registrar (ST5 and above) or equivalent.


Maidstone Hospital is a regional Cancer Centre for gynae-oncology serving the population of West Kent. The post will provide comprehensive training in gynaecological surgery, exposure to advanced laparoscopic procedures and novel techniques such as sentinel node dissection. Candidate will also have exposure to Colposcopy and Rapid Access Clinics. In addition, the post holder will participate in the second on-call Middle Grade Rota for General Obstetrics & Gynecology if required.

The post provides the opportunity for training in line with the curricula towards completion of Gynaecology-oncology ATSM approved by the RCOG if the candidate has MRCOG part 2 and ST5 grade or above.

Possession of MRCOG part 2 or equivalent is essential. The candidate must have full GMC Registration. The post holder will be expected to take part in research and clinical trails. The salary of the post is equivalent to Registrar level.

The post-holder will beexpected to have a wide range of experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and at least 5 years’ experience at Specialist Registrar levelor equivalent level. Clinical fellows will be expected to provide active medical input into the care of women in the hospital. The holder will be expected to take an active part in the pre-operative and post-operative management of gynaecological oncology patients.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology department in the Trust has its services based on the two main hospital sites at new Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury and Maidstone Hospital. The new Tunbridge Wells hospital opened in Jan 2011 with the amalgamation of maternity units at Maidstone and Pembury hospital in Sept 2011. It is the first NHS hospital in England with 100% en-suite single rooms for inpatients. The projected annual delivery rate is about 6000 deliveries and a level two neonatal unit supports it. The trust has a midwifery led low risk unit based on the Maidstone hospital site.

The unit offers wide experience and supervised training in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with excellent opportunities in a friendly supportive department. There are dedicated specialist clinics in both obstetrics and gynaecology in addition the unit offers a range of RCOG Advanced training modules (ATSMs) for advanced trainees.



The post will be as a full-time at Middle Grade level to support the gynaecological oncology services in the West Kent Cancer Centre (WKCC). Duties will include Gynae-oncology outpatient clinics, Gynae-oncology ward rounds, one-stop outpatient clinics, Colposcopy clinic, inpatient and outpatient operating sessions. The post will involve care of gynae-oncology patients in close liaison with Gynaecological Oncology Consultants and sub-speciality nurses. Competence is requiredin labour ward management, emergency Obstetrics andgynaecology.

A Vacancy at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Foot and Ankle Surgeon to join the expanding Trauma and Orthopaedic Service at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

This post forms part of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre team at Maidstone Hospital. Over 200 new posts will support the new Centre, which is part of a national scheme to deliver more than 50 new surgical hubs across England. The new Centre will open in spring 2024 and treat patients from across the region, increasing the Trust’s capacity for planned surgical procedures.

The Centre will contain the latest novel open plan laminar flow theatres; open-plan surgical areas where up to three patients are treated in a dedicated space with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection. The new facility will also include a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, with recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a dedicated elective building.

The Centre will expand orthopaedic surgical capacity across Kent and Medway, playing an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region.

The post is for foot and ankle surgery. There will be an expectation to perform elective and trauma surgery, and provide specialist expertise in foot and ankle trauma. Fracture and elective clinics are held in Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and peripheral hospitals. Day surgery lists and inpatient elective lists currently occur in Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, and trauma lists at Tunbridge Wells. There may be an ask to cover on-calls during periods of colleague absence or sickness.

Part of this role will include building up the surgical waiting list in preparation for the opening of the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in 2024.

The Trust provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 480,000 in West Kent and North East Sussex, and some specialist services to a considerably larger population. Maidstone Hospital has a stand alone Orthopaedic Theatre with a 12 bedded Orthopaedic ward attached. There is a day surgery unit and elective and fracture clinics run daily.
The Tunbridge Wells Hospital is located in Pembury adjacent to the A21. It is the first NHS hospital where all main wards are comprised entirely of single rooms with en suite bathrooms. The hospital is a Trauma Unit in the South East London, Kent & Medway Trauma Network, and has a close working relationship with King’s College Hospital which is the major trauma centre for the network. There are 2 dedicated elective Orthopaedic theatres, a trauma theatre which runs 8.30 am to 6 pm seven days a week, and every weekday morning there is an additional Consultant delivered specialist trauma list.
Members of the department are heavily involved in the regional orthopaedic teaching programme and in the running of local ATLS courses

Ensure equipment used within the lung function assessments are functioning correctly by performing frequent calibration and validation techniques including mechanical and biological verification

Applications are invited for an exciting additional post - Specialty Urology Doctor at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust – to increase service provision and help to support with both routine and cancer pathways within the local Kent urological services.

This whole time appointment will be based primarily at Maidstone Hospital but work will also be undertaken at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury or at other sites within the Trust. The post-holder will work with the consultant team but will have supervision with a nominated consultant, and will function at a middle-grade level. The post-holder will participate in the urology middle grade on call (1:8) rota, which provides 24 hour cover through a new registrar of the week model established in October 2023. This post will suit a candidate ideally with urology experience who has completed core training and wishes to develop their Urological skills.

Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic, dynamic, and suitably qualified candidates and an interest in working collaboratively to support clinical care pathways. Flexibility around contract format and responsibilities is welcomed through individual conversations at the point of interview.

The post will be supervised and responsible to the Lead Clinician, Mr Henderson. The post holder will be required to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstance and to be available for such irregular outside normal rota duties. The post holder will be required to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust provides acute hospital services for an area in South West Kent and parts of East Sussex. The main acute hospitals are the Maidstone General Hospital, Maidstone and the newly redeveloped all single room, Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

The specialty doctor will be required to see new and old patients in the outpatient clinics, perform unsupervised flexible cystoscopy lists, prostate biopsies, and be involved with the emergency on-call rota at a middle grade level. The weekly timetable will also include theatre lists under the supervision of a consultant urological surgeon. The post holder will be required to have a close relationship with the staff on the wards, including the intensive care unit, the theatre and nursing staff and other professional and technical staff. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate some flexibility to cover middle grade leave. The post is whole-time. Flexibility in the weekly work pattern is essential given the varying demands upon the service, and will be allocated given the successful candidate’s level of experience, to best address the needs of the department. The PAS consist of 8 working PAS, 1 SPA and 3 On Call PAS.



It is envisaged that a Registrar of the Week on call system of ward cover will be implemented in the near future. The post holder will be required to have a close relationship with the staff on the wards, including the intensive care unit, the theatre and nursing staff and other professional and technical staff. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate some flexibility to cover middle grade leave.

The post holder will be encouraged to participate in data collection and audit and past postholders have published at international meeting and scientific journals.

The post is whole-time (10 sessions per week). Flexibility in the weekly work pattern is essential given the varying demands upon the service, and will be allocated given the successful candidate’s level of experience, to best address the needs of the department.

The PAS consist of 8 working PAS, 1 SPA and 3 On Call PAS.

Opportunity for a band 3 HCSW to be part of the radiotherapy team in assisting with the patient pathway and to help ensure that patients are treated within a timely manner .



The HCSW should be able:

* To assist Radiographers, Nurses, Clinical Oncologists and Administrative/Clerical staff.
* Undertake a wide variety of tasks throughout the department, as part of the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure service efficiency, whilst maintaining high standards of patient-centered care.
* Assist patients before, during and after Radiotherapy, utilising appropriate and effective communications skills.
* To have knowledge and understanding of Radiotherapy. This should include anatomical and medical terminology relevant to a range of different clinical areas.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the diverse and dynamic Clinical IT systems training team.

Working alongside our Clinical Systems Management team, we are responsible for a comprehensive programme of high-quality training supporting in excess of 6,000 clinical and non-clinical staff.

We play a pivotal role in supporting the digital transformation programme of works to create a single point of access to patients’ healthcare records as a result of the ongoing implementation and development of new Sunrise ePR system.

Our teams currently work flexibly, from home and from any MTW site, including satellite services. This is likely to become a permanent way of working.

The main focus of the role is the creation and development of eLearning packages for all our systems. Existing knowledge of Captivate and Cantasia software is an advantage, but training can be given. You will have knowledge and experience of clinical and non-clinical systems with the ability to learn new systems.

You will assist with delivering the training via a variety of guises, such as face-to-face, and Microsoft Teams. You will also be involved in the system testing of new and upgraded IT systems prior to their deployment.
