About the Role
Base Location: Shin Power Station, Scotland
Salary: £41,583-£48,296 + performance related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSE Renewables Hydro operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Hydro Generation assets. We currently have an opportunity for a Hydro Operations Team Leader to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based at Shin Power Station, Inveran, by Lairg. IV27
The multi-disciplined team in the Shin section is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state.
Main accountabilities may include:
- Day-to-day management and supervision of a multi-disciplined team of crafts persons and semi-skilled staff who perform the operations and maintenance on the Hydro Power Stations and associated water catchment areas within the geographic area. This will include carrying out performance management.
- Looking after the safety of the general public, environment, staff and contractors within the area.
- Managing packages of work and ensuring plant within the section is in a safe and efficient state.
- Co-ordinating and planning the section workload, utilising a computer-based maintenance system, to deliver the expected high standards of plant performance, availability and reliability.
- Playing a key role in ensuring technical, legislative, environmental and safety standards are met.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Supervisory or managerial experience, an electrical or mechanical background in conjunction with a recognised apprenticeship or similar.
- Experience in working on Hydro Generation or similar heavy rotating plant is preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical and technical skills as you will liaise directly with clients, management, contractors, and other staff on a daily basis, ensuring all work is undertaken to the company's requirements and safety standards.
- Ability to undertake authorisation training to perform HV switching, plant operations and isolations plus authorised person duties up to Auxiliary Plant Authorisation under the Generation System Safety Rules.
- Highly motivated, flexible, safety conscious mindset with the ability to service the needs of the company, manage emergent work and lead the team safely and efficiently.
It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence as remote working will be required as part of the role.
Applicants should reside or be prepared to relocate to within an approx. 30 miles radius of Shin Power Station.
