An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Highland Region Delivery Team for a dedicated and hard-working Project Manager. The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering projects across the Highlands & Islands. Our team are responsible for the replacement and refurbishment of plant & equipment on our 33kV & 11kV networks, refurbishment of our overhead line network and the delivery of projects associated with our Major Connection customers.

As a Project Manager, your main duties will involve:

- Conducting financial forecasts and monitoring financial performance using established tools independently

- Consistently fulfilling regulatory reporting needs

- Creating project documentation

- Collaborating with contractor partners and operational staff to ensure projects are completed safely and within budget.

- Ensuring exceptional customer service delivery.

What do I need?

To be eligible for this position, we would like you to have:

- A recognized Project Management qualification such as Prince 2 (Foundation) or similar, or equivalent experience

- A fundamental CDM certification like IOSH or a comparable qualification

- Understanding of Project Governance and its relevance to specific Projects

- Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to work well in a team

- An understanding of HV/EHV networks would be beneficial

A valid driving license is necessary for this job.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Linesperson to join our Transmission Operations business based in Inverness supporting inspection and maintenance operations across the whole Scotland region.

The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Overhead Linesperson are:

- Carrying out key inspection, maintenance & repair activities on our 132, 275 & 400kV Transmission overhead line networks.

- Responsible for the safety of yourself and colleagues, and act as ambassador for a strong safety culture in everything you do.

- Working outdoors in all weather, you may also be required to respond to emergency situations, we want to provide the best possible service to our stakeholders at all times.

What do I need?

- Industry recognised OHL qualification and proven previous experience working at height on the electricity network.

About our Teams

Capital Development and Delivery: Seeking a summer placement student to help support the successful delivery of transmission projects needed to meet the UK governments 2030 net zero targets. Working with the Project Manager, a typical day will involve collaborating with a wider team to plan, execute and monitor projects during the refinement and construction phases. Working closely with Contractors to successfully deliver our projects, you will have the opportunity to be based both in the office and on-site. This will require a flexible approach to working both in a team and undertaking some tasks working alone. You will also develop an understanding of our safety culture and values.

This team are based in Inverness, Aberdeen, Skye, or Argyll & Bute, and are looking for students studying electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, project management, construction management or a STEM related degree.

Eastern Green Link (EGL) Project: Is being delivered as a Joint Venture between SSENT (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) and NGET (National Grid Electricity Transmission). This is part of a wider portfolio of Eastern projects being executed on the Eastern Coast of the UK mainland. The EGL2 project consists of a 2GW HVDC link from Peterhead in the Northeast of Scotland to Drax at Wren Hall in North Yorkshire, England, with associated AC onshore works. We are looking for summer placement students to help ensure safe and sustainable delivery of scope elements on time and within budget.

This team are based in Glasgow and are looking for students studying electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.

As a Contract Manager as part of the Framework team, you will lead the implementation of the commercial and contractual support service within the regions on the following framework contracts: Overhead Line, Primary Substation Electrical Installation & Civil Works, Cabling up to 33KV, Cable Plough, Automation, Rising Lateral & Mains, Jointing and any other approved frameworks that are required by the business.

Your duties will include:

- Working with key stakeholders to ensure frameworks are embedded within the business ensuring a rigorous control environment is in place to effectively manage commercial risk, compliance and competence while creating value across the portfolio of contracts.

- Driving ongoing improvements with our framework partners through dialogue / senior management quarterly reviews on safety, performance, quality and cost plays a major role in the success of this position.

What is the role?

Our Trainee Site Construction Management programme lasts for three years and combines work-based learning experience and formal training and workshops, including an SVQ in Construction Site Management.

This programme will develop your knowledge and experience to become a Site Manager. Whilst on the programme you will organise work on our project sites, making sure all tasks are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will liaise with contractors, surveyors and builders to ensure a project is on track and ensure there are enough staff, machinery, and materials to complete the job.

You will gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network, and develop a unique set of skills which will shape your career. Due to our size and diversity, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you will have the support of the Learning and Development team and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. You will be assigned a Site Construction Manager (SCM) that will help manage your day-to-day activities on site, ensuring that you get the breadth of knowledge and experience to help you complete your training.

The programme will support your career development into a Site Construction Manager position taking responsibility for your own site. SSEN Transmission projects typically appoint a full-time site representative or Site Construction Manager onto each major site. They play a pivotal role in the team and act as a full-time on-site link between our contractors and the rest of the SSEN Transmission project team, including the project manager. They also play an integral link with our operations team. Projects are typically construction of new, or modification to existing transmission voltage (132kV and above) assets including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables. This can include major civil works and buildings.

What do I need? 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to:

- Have some previous experience working on an active construction site in any capacity, or alternatively have studied HNC Construction Management. Please note, we are unable to accept applications from those that have already completed, or are working towards achieving, a Masters degree.

- Be highly organised and self-driven with the ability to manage your time well.

- Be flexible in your approach to work to maximise your chances of success, and you should be happy working alone or as part of a team.

SSEN are looking for a Nature Delivery Officer to drive the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain, Irreplaceable Habitat and other nature commitments, working with external delivery partners and internal teams to co-ordinate projects and programmes. A key focus area will be the North of Scotland including the Highlands and Islands, so frequent travel to this area will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work with other members of the Consents & Environment team and external stakeholders to ensure that the projects deliver against business and regulatory targets relating to Biodiversity Net Gain, Irreplaceable Habitats and other nature commitments.

- Manage and establish relationships with key regional delivery partners for third party nature restoration programmes.

- Provide robust and accurate monthly regional Biodiversity Net Gain, Irreplaceable Habitat and other nature target delivery statistics/KPI's for business dashboards. Input into regulatory output reports and incentive submissions for Ofgem.

- Provide technical expertise on project site visits to guide decisions on initial habitat assessments to advise on suitability of projects for Biodiversity Net Gain and Irreplaceable Habitat delivery.

- Track the ongoing delivery and achievement of offsite nature enhancement programmes to ensure longevity of nature interventions.

What do I need?

- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ideally within an infrastructure environment.

- Demonstrable organisational skills and ability to manage large datasets, track progress, analyse data, and report against targets with GIS experience.

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Supervisor experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission overhead line works, substations, and/or underground cables. The role is initially delivering the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- To represent the business during the construction phase of projects ensuring the suppliers carry out works in accordance with contractual requirements and SSEN policies and procedures. A key element of this will be measuring completed works against the works information for payment purposes and management of compensation events.

- The Site Supervisor should adhere to SSEN Safety Management Systems, best practice and the SSE Large Capital Projects Governance processes for all projects.

- Represent the business accordingly and at all times convey the SSE Safety culture.

- You will typically become involved with a project in advance of Gate 3 of the LCP process.

The Site Supervisor will be required to be onsite 5 days a week. Accommodation and subsistence costs provided.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A working engineering and construction knowledge including the safety and CDM regulations.

- Experience in site supervision or construction at duty holder level of similarly complex works in construction or utilities. Experience in construction access works would also be beneficial.

- Experience in tree cutting, forestry or arboriculture and relevant NPTC certificate units for the use of chainsaws, and a qualification or certificates including NPTC UA would be a bonus, however not essential
