You will be responsible for ensuring that mechanical engineering maintenance, including specialist contract work is carried out to the appropriate standards and specifications.
The purpose of this role will be to support the Operations Engineering Team to ensure the Trust’s mechanical engineering systems are operated and maintained in accordance with established quality standards and procedures. The role includes managing both planned and reactive maintenance in the Acute Hospital environment that ensures a well maintained, safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
You will manage the Trust’s mechanical plant and equipment including water systems. and provide specialist engineering knowledge and advice to the Senior Engineer, Maintenance Manager, in-house project teams, Consultants and operational staff.
Ensure that the Trust’s maintenance management systems reflect good practice in accordance with H&S legislation and HTM’s.
Ensure that the Trust’s mechanical systems asset register is maintained and all such assets are compliant with statutory and HTM requirements.
Perform the role of Authorised Person (AP) for the Trust’s mechanical services and pressure systems and arrange and monitor specialist contracts to provide maintenance and validation of mechanical plant and systems.
Participate in the Trusts out of hours on-call engineering service.
The responsibilities also include working with and supervising operational staff as well as contractors and also acting as Authorised Person for various specialties ensuring that current legislation, regulations and safe systems of work are adhered to.
You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline and have experience in building services systems. Health Service experience is desirable, it is not considered essential.
This position will require you to participate in out of hours working.
