Chief Inspector
Salary up to £39,000, permanent role 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday (early finish on Friday), BS37 Yate, pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, parking, life assurance.
An exciting opportunity to join an established and stable aerospace engineering company due to promotion to maintain and monitor quality assurance and quality control activities. The role of chief inspector, aerospace inspector will be an integral part of the quality team reporting to the line manager.
The chief inspector, aerospace inspector role will involve the following responsibilities
- Maintaining and monitoring quality assurance and quality control activities, reporting to the Senior Management team and pro actively developing the quality system to maintain and improve its performance
- Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining the Quality Systems of the Company e.g. by identifying trends in non-conformances, performing audits and supplier assessments
- Ensure all company employees are aware of their quality responsibilities and continuous improvement
- Customer & supplier liaison, working with external inspectors and auditors
- Preparation and review of Non-conformance Reports, FAIRS, DARs, Concessions, Waivers and Final Inspection Reports
- Create and maintain calibration records, product passports and quality instructions
- Ensure compliance e.g. drawings, specifications, codes, standards and regulations
- Verifytraceability of components is maintained throughout all manufacturing and inspection operations, route records verifying operations are completed sequentially and signed
- Record returned and reworked items on non-conformances.
- Visually inspect components occasionally off site
- UtiliseCMM and conventional inspection tools
Skill set required for the chief inspector, aerospace inspector
- Candidates suited to this role are likely to have a related engineering background, City + Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualifications and or specific quality related qualifications.
- Ideally you will have aerospace and or precision engineering quality inspection standards i.e. experience in ISO9001:2015
- Experience of utilising CMM machines, Aberlink software is of particular interest but not essential
- Computer literate, understanding of MRP and ERP Systems to record information
- Understanding of FMEA and PFMEA where required, non-conformance reporting
- Understanding of Gauge R & R

There will be the introduction of a Monday to Thursday working in the near future (same number of hours each week worked over 4 days) for work life balance.
