The Role

The Financial Management team is a centralised finance service within the Resources Directorate using the Business Partnering approach to provide business and financial advice, guidance and expertise across the Council. A recently appointed Assistant Director who is due to commence in early December will lead the team.

You will play a crucial role supporting the transformation of financially sustainable services that will serve our residents to live healthy and independent lives whilst also advocating the continuous improvement journey within Financial Management.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the roles will support the Council’s Corporate Finance responsibilities together with Service Directorates. The Role

We are seeking two Transformation Business Partners. 1 x Adult Services and 1 x Place and Corporate Services.

This role is pivotal to the council's strategic goals of improving service delivery and efficiency through innovative transformation projects.

Its purpose is to partner with specific service departments to design and implement change programmes, ensuring that the right support structures are in place for successful delivery. This involves identifying opportunities for improvement, shaping and driving strategic transformation initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the council. Additionally, it involves supporting the council in tracking value and return on investment across the assigned service departments.

Key activities will include:

1. Strategic Transformation Planning and Implementation - Develop and oversee the execution of department-specific transformation strategies, ensuring alignment with broader council objectives.
2. Stakeholder Engagement and Support - Act as a primary liaison between the business improvement team and other departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
3. Change Management - Guide departments through change processes, providing support and resources to manage transitions effectively.
4. Performance Monitoring and Reporting - Track progress against transformation goals, providing regular updates to senior management and adjusting strategies as needed.
5. Training and Development - Organise training sessions and workshops to upskill department staff in change management and continuous improvement practices.
6. Policy and Compliance Oversight - Ensure that transformation initiatives comply with relevant laws, regulations, and council policies.

About You

The post holder will drive forward special projects and initiatives to implement transformation so will have strong project management skills to ensure they can support delivery and change throughout the organisation.

The Role

This role will work within the temporary accommodation team in supporting households placed into emergency accommodation to find alternative accommodation.

You will be providing administrative support to a number of households providing a holistic and wrap around support model to ensure a timely move on into sustainable accommodation is in place.

You will be ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed with households in emergency accommodation including applications to housing providers, completing tasks from Personalised Housing Plans and ensuring benefit maximisation is in place.

You will be expected to work in a hybrid way including carrying out visits to temporary accommodation locations and partner agencies in order to support in the completion of paperwork.

You will also be expected to support the team in the prevention of homelessness wherever possible, chasing documents and ensuring paperwork is competed along with providing the first point of contact within the reception area of the team.

You will be part of a very busy and fast paced service providing the statutory homelessness function.

About You

You will have:

Experience of working with households with complex difficulties

Worked in a Housing or support related field of work previously.

Excellent IT skills and the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team.

Be able to work on your own initiative to find solutions

Excellent interpersonal skills: able to build relationships with people at all levels, manage and resolve conflicts, influence others and challenge unacceptable practice.

Ability to show compassion to others in extreme and difficult situations.

Knowledge of the benefit system including housing benefits and universal credit

Your new company
HMP Bristol is a category B adult male prison based in Horfield, Bristol.
Your new role
Working as a Project Escort (security officer), you will be working alongside the operational security team. You will be responsible for escorting/assisting contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison, visitor checks, toolkit checks, main gate duties and vehicle searches. You will assist with the safety of visitors around the site and ensure no unauthorised items enter the site. This role will require Mon-Fri 8am-4.30/5pm. It is a temporary contract which is a minimum of 3 months on a rolling basis and dependent on how long the project is for and how long the contractors take.

Rate (inclusive of holidays): 37.5hrs per week £13.10 p/h standard day shiftsLocation: Bristol, but may be required to work on local sites from time to time (Eastwood Park and Leyhill)

What you'll need to succeed
You will not require previous experience as you will receive full on-the-job training. You will need to be a strong communicator, level-headed and security conscious. You will be able to work well in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be required to provide 2 satisfactory references and will be subject to full prison clearance. Please note clearance can take 4-6 weeks to be processed.
