Associate Editor or Senior Editor, Nature Biomedical Engineering

Nature Portfolio is recruiting for an Associate Editor or Senior Editor for Nature Biomedical Engineering. The position is offered on a full-time permanent basis, and can be based in our London, Shanghai or Madrid offices.
Nature Biomedical Engineering is an online-only monthly journal publishing original research, reviews and commentary in applied biomedicine and health technology. The journal's audience include life scientists developing experimental or computational systems and methods to understand human physiology, biomedical researchers and engineers designing or optimizing therapies, assays, devices or procedures to diagnose or treat disease, and clinicians leveraging research outputs to assess patient health or deliver therapy across a variety of clinical settings and healthcare contexts.
Responsibilities:
The successful applicants will work within a close-knit multidisciplinary team of editors on all aspects of the editorial process.
Manuscript selection and the overseeing of peer review.
Commissioning and editing of reviews and commentary.
The generation and discussion of ideas for new content.
Writing for the journal.
Liaising with the research community through laboratory visits and international conferences.
Attendance to scientific conferences and regular liaising with researchers via videoconference and on-site visits.
Skills, Experience and Qualification:
Essential
A PhD in an area relevant to the applied biomedical sciences or biomedical engineering is necessary, and postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
Research experience in any area of applied biomedicine, and particularly in bioimaging, molecular diagnostics, immunotherapies or neuroengineering.
A keen attention to detail, and proficiency at scientific writing and at developmental editing.
A strong record of accomplishments commensurate with their level of experience.
Broad scientific expertise, the ability to quickly absorb new knowledge, and a keen interest in the communication of science.
Desirable
Postdoctoral experience.
Although previous editorial experience is not required, candidates with substantial editorial experience will be considered for Senior Editor.
