This role is predominantly working with Northumbrian Water based in Pity Me, Durham to deliver a range of water and wastewater treatment projects as part of their frameworks in AMP7 and beyond.

We are successfully working alongside companies such as; Yorkshire Water, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water, United Utilities, Northumbrian Water, Thames Water, The Coal Authority, Cadent, Rolls Royce, and Canals & Rivers Trust which has allowed us to progress as a leader in the construction and civil engineering sectors whilst developing and maintaining an excellent reputation with our clients. 

You will be supported by an existing Geotechnical team distributed across multiple national MMB framework contracts with some of the UK’s largest water companies. On occasion it may be necessary to support other framework teams across the wider MMBC business unit and as such may on occasion be required to travel out of area.

As an Engineering Geologist within MMB, you will:

- Undertake geotechnical desk studies, design of ground investigations, compilation of ground investigation tender documentation and contract administration.
- Support in the technical supervision of ground investigation fieldworks and liaison with ground investigation contractors.
- Interpretate and verify of ground investigation data including presentation of appropriate ground model, development of geotechnical design parameters and clear presentation of ground risks.
- Production of ground investigation reports and geotechnical design reports in accordance with EC7.
- Liaise with wider non specialist project team members (design and construction) to develop best-value engineering designs and clearly communicate identified project ground risks and suitable mitigation.
- Undertake various geotechnical analyses and design, produce calculation packages, input to works specifications and drawings for construction.


What you can offer:

- Degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology (MEng/MSc).
- Strong engineering geology and geotechnical design competencies, ideally in the water/wastewater sector.
- Experience in the field of ground engineering in the UK, with a full understanding of the geotechnical lifecycle of construction projects.
- Previous experience undertaking project desk studies, identifying key ground risks, planning and supervising ground investigations, developing ground models, undertaking ground interpretation and delivering elements of geotechnical design.

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) are looking for an Engineering Geologist with a desire to develop innovative and pragmatic ways of working, reduce carbon and protect the environment. This role is predominantly working with Northumbrian Water based in Pity Me, Durham to deliver a range of water and wastewater treatment projects as part of their frameworks in AMP7 and beyond.

We are successfully working alongside companies such as; Yorkshire Water, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water, United Utilities, Northumbrian Water, Thames Water, The Coal Authority, Cadent, Rolls Royce, and Canals & Rivers Trust which has allowed us to progress as a leader in the construction and civil engineering sectors whilst developing and maintaining an excellent reputation with our clients. 

You will be supported by an existing Geotechnical team distributed across multiple national MMB framework contracts with some of the UK’s largest water companies. On occasion it may be necessary to support other framework teams across the wider MMBC business unit and as such may on occasion be required to travel out of area.

As an Engineering Geologist within MMB, you will:

- Undertake geotechnical desk studies, design of ground investigations, compilation of ground investigation tender documentation and contract administration.
- Support in the technical supervision of ground investigation fieldworks and liaison with ground investigation contractors.
- Interpretate and verify of ground investigation data including presentation of appropriate ground model, development of geotechnical design parameters and clear presentation of ground risks.
- Production of ground investigation reports and geotechnical design reports in accordance with EC7.
- Liaise with wider non specialist project team members (design and construction) to develop best-value engineering designs and clearly communicate identified project ground risks and suitable mitigation.
- Undertake various geotechnical analyses and design, produce calculation packages, input to works specifications and drawings for construction.


What you can offer:

- Degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology (MEng/MSc).
- Strong engineering geology and geotechnical design competencies, ideally in the water/wastewater sector.
- Experience in the field of ground engineering in the UK, with a full understanding of the geotechnical lifecycle of construction projects.
- Previous experience undertaking project desk studies, identifying key ground risks, planning and supervising ground investigations, developing ground models, undertaking ground interpretation and delivering elements of geotechnical design.
- Working towards or have achieved Chartership through a relevant Institution (ICE/IOM3/GeolSoc).

The role is nominally based in our office in Pity Me, Durham within an existing geotechnical team. Projects will be distributed throughout Northumbrian Waters operational area. Flexible and agile working means that the right balance between office, home and site working can be agreed.

Job Role: Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

To provide efficient and effective preventative maintenance and breakdown cover in Hartlepool site looking after and maintaining machinery and ancillaries. DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure all Health and Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping standards and requirements are adhered too at all times. Ensuring you always work in a safe manner, following company policies and procedures and any breaches are reported to your line manager or any member of the management team immediately.
• To be committed to and champion a strong SHEQ culture on site. Safeguarding that staff are competent, adequately trained and supported to enable them to carry out their duties safely.
• Maintain a robust internal control environment in order to comply with procedures in line with ISO 9001 & 14001 regulations
• To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, Risk Management and any other relevant legislation and company policies.
• Ensure weekly fire alarm tests are carried out and assist with the evacuation procedure.
• Compile, plan and execute a complete TPM plan for both sites using predominantly in house staff.
• Utilise and train both Engineers and Operatives for TPM requirements where appropriate.
• To prioritise maintenance engineering duties as required on a daily basis or as directed by the Operations manager.
• Track, analyse and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilisation, maintenance cost, PM compliance, mandatory schedule compliance including but not limited to LOLER, Pressure Vessels including steam, PUWER, Access platforms or any other items assigned by the senior Management.
• Record, monitor and analys all breakdowns by implementing KPI's for each area of the equipment and ensure the underlying root causes are actioned and improvements are implemented in the agreed timescale.
• Develop a continuous improvement philosophy within the maintenance team, being a champion in implementing and sustaining lean principles such as TPM, 5S and Poke Yoke.
• Supervise and manage all plant maintenance personnel's performance KPI's and objectives and development along with close management of T&A issues, holidays and any breaches in discipline.
• To assist the maintenance engineering team when and where required filling in for holidays and assisting on TPM's or breakdowns to ensure all Operations objectives and commercial commitments are met.
• Manage facilities and utility records.
• Manage contractors and costs in line with company policy.
• Manage projects and task with the cooperation of relevant teams and managers.
• Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance engineers.
• Monitor operations of plant equipment and systems and make observations.

Essential experience & background:

• Qualified Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with Electrical bias.
• 17th edition qualified or equivalent.
• Significant experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Effective Communicator at all levels
• Experience of using Ladders / Scaffolding / MEWP
• Ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated and driven to achieve set targets
• Experience working with or setting up TPM schedules

Licences/qualifications: IOSH Managing Safely, LEAN Six Sigma green belt, Forklift CB truck License & IPAF license would also be desirable.

This is is a very hands on role, however there is real potential for this to be a move into a more management focused role over time. Perm role ( 12 weeks)

What does the Apprenticeship look like?

Years 2 to 4 – you will spend time away from home (approx. 45 days, Monday to Friday) to undertake a mixture of residential learning at our national training centres. You will meet and train with key equipment and robotics suppliers, undertake practical learning across our UK manufacturing plants. This multi-site exposure will support you in understanding the equipment you will be responsible for, build key relationships and learn from your colleagues.  Wienerberger will cover the cost of your accommodation and travel. 

On top of achieving your apprenticeship, you will also gain a number of vocational and academic qualifications which will be fully funded. These include: 

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
Certified 3-Day First Aid
