1. Performs visual inspections of the exterior and interior of all lodging facilities. Informs supervisor of major and minor discrepancies found.
2. Performs minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions, and basic shop mathematics. Installs exterior and interior trim using preplanned materials, such as baseboards, and molding. Replaces broken or missing acoustical ceiling tile, broken door and window trim, window screens, stairway steps, wooden porches, door jambs, and other damaged wood components.
3. Prepares wood and metal surfaces to be painted, mixes and prepares coating material, and applies coating materials (for example, paints, varnishes, and shellacs). Prepares surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sand surfacing.
4. Makes minor electrical repairs by replacing fixtures, switches, sockets, stove burners, electrical cords, bulbs, and fluorescent fixtures.
5. Performs routine/seasonal maintenance and upkeep of gasoline powered lawn equipment to ensure equipment is in good mechanical and safe operating conditions. Identifies if routine maintenance is required to supervisor during initial inspection.
6. Drives vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to various locations both on and off base. Performs routine safety inspections on vehicles, and corrects minor defects.
7. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes hand and power tools such as, drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tools, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, rules, caulking irons, pipe wrenches, roller, putty knives, and paintbrushes.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Senior Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer with overall supervision and management of either an Aircraft Maintenance Squadron , a Maintenance Squadron , an Equipment Maintenance Squadron or a Component Maintenance Squadron at an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit-equipped or associate unit.

The incumbent primarily assists in maintenance and construction of graded and paved trails, trail drainage, trail bridges, and guard rails. Assists in the installation, repair and replacement of water diversion bars, cribbing, and retainer walls. Removes windfalls, rockslides, surface outcroppings, and debris from trails. Builds up tread surfaces in eroded areas. Installs stepping-stones or bridges at creek crossings. Safely and effectively uses hand and power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly. May perform work on roads, trail signs, parking lots, boundary fences, corral repair, and construction.

Physical Effort: Heavy physical exertion is frequently required in bending, lifting, and using hand and power tools in trail work. Major Duties: Performs new trail construction and maintenance including sustainable trail design, general trail maintenance practices, masonry, and log carpentry work. Work also includes moving a variety of materials (stone, logs, fill, etc.) to work sites, maintaining and (re)constructing trail tread, hauling materials, rehabilitating project sites, cleaning drainages, installing signs, transplanting vegetation, and brushing trail segments.
Work on park-wide trail construction and maintenance projects. Projects include foot trails in wilderness, front country paths, footbridge construction and maintenance, re-vegetation work, and general maintenance and cleaning tasks.
