The Production Engineer (Metal) will play a key role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and improving efficiency in the production of metal furniture and fixtures. This position requires a strong understanding of metalworking techniques, process engineering, and continuous improvement methodologies. The successful candidate will work closely with the production team to meet production targets, enhance product quality, and reduce operational costs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process Optimization
• Analyze and improve production processes to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain product quality.
• Develop and implement manufacturing procedures, workflows, and best practices for metal fabrication.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and quality control guidelines throughout the production process.
2. Quality Assurance
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain high standards in metal parts and assemblies.
• Troubleshoot quality issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure product consistency.
• Conduct root cause analysis and develop preventative measures to reduce defects.
3. Production Planning and Coordination
• Assist in planning production schedules and managing resources to meet project deadlines.
• Work closely with the Production Manager and cross-functional teams to coordinate production activities.
• Monitor inventory levels for raw materials, parts, and equipment required for metal production.
4. Machine and Equipment Maintenance
• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of machinery and equipment used in metalworking, such as CNC machines, welding equipment, and presses.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance team to schedule repairs and prevent production delays.
• Identify and recommend new equipment or upgrades to enhance production capabilities.
5. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, reduce cycle times, and improve workflow.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production tasks.
6. Safety and Compliance
• Ensure all production processes comply with workplace health and safety regulations.
• Promote a safety-first culture by identifying potential hazards and implementing safe work practices.
• Conduct safety training and audits to minimize risks in the production environment.
Experience:
• Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a production engineering role, preferably in metal manufacturing or fabrication.
• Skills:
• Proficient in metalworking processes such as welding, cutting, forming, and machining.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
• Experience with CAD software and production management tools.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
