The Role
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and confident Teaching Assistant, passionate about working with children. In addition to experienced candidates, we are open to considering applicants with limited work experience, as long as they can demonstrate some experience of having either worked or volunteered with younger children.
Whilst this is a Teaching Assistant opportunity, we are also open to hearing from individuals with particular interest and experience in Sports or PE and will adapt the role accordingly to accommodate this interest.
With some experience of children aged 4-7 years and a clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding, the ideal candidates must be able demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of EYFS and Key Stage 1 and be willing to become a qualified Paediatric First Aider (if they do not already hold this qualification).

• Work closely and under the direction of the Class Teacher (and if a Sports focus is agreed, under the direction of the Sports department), to support with the delivery of high standard education provision.
• Supervise children at various times throughout the day in and outside the classroom.
• Work with small groups and individual children as directed by the Class Teacher.
• To support pupils during co-curricular activities and accompanying school trips, including supporting pupil residential visits if required.

The Person
The key skills and qualities of the role are:
• GCSE or equivalent English and Mathematics Grade C or above.
• A relevant childcare related qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential
• Experience of working with children in the 4-7 age range (this may include volunteering)
• Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• A good knowledge of child development and learning processes including barriers to learning.

The renal service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides a comprehensive integrated programme for the investigation and management of the full spectrum of renal disease from investigational nephrology to renal transplantation.
