This is a full time permanent role delivering Early Years Apprenticeship from Levels 2-5 and Teaching Assistant role across Cornwall. What skills and experience we're looking for

We require fixed-term and permanent full-time Teaching Assistants to support students with special educational needs in a variety of subject areas throughout the school. These roles will start in September. The fixed-term positions will run until 31 August 2025.

You should have excellent literacy, numeracy and interpersonal skills, evidence of effectively working with young people, and high expectations for pupils' achievements. Previous manual handling training/experience and personal care are an advantage.

These are term time only positions, with additional INSET training days as required, working Monday, 8.25am - 4.30pm, and Tuesday to Friday, 8.25am - 3.40pm, and so the salary is proportionately reduced both in the number of hours worked and the number of weeks worked during the year. Working 34 hours per week, this position is paid for 43.128 weeks per year. The full-time equivalent salary will be £22,186 - £22,396 (actual salary: £18,350 - £18,524).

What the school offers its staff

The health and wellbeing of our entire school community, including staff, is of utmost importance to us. We have a dedicated Mental Health Lead and a number of employees at the school who are mental health trained to support staff and students alike.

Our Staff Wellbeing Team strive to organise a number of activities in and outside of school, including craft workshops, sports activities, and more. We also have a Workload Wellbeing Team that work to ensure the school is always considerate of staff members’ work-life balance.

We actively encourage staff to take part in the many continuing professional development (CPD) workshops and classes we operate at Penryn College, helping to strengthen and/or develop new skills.

What skills and experience we're looking for

To take a pro-active role in the support of the educational, social and physical needs of pupils; to support the curriculum and the school through the provision of a high level of assistance in the practical organisation of support activities, undertaking group work and ensuring the welfare and development of pupils. This may involve supporting students within both mainstream and ARB settings
