The role
As a Senior Plant Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll assist Babcock in supporting the MOD Nuclear Submarine provision by ensuring there are safe and compliant facilities in which to undertake maintenance and upkeep activities.

Day-to-day, you'll be key in supporting the nuclear and radiological safety of operations around the facilities and will interface with the production, design and technical teams to support implementation of engineering, process controls and safety cases.

• You will be part of the team who are responsible for management of control of work, site operations, plant maintenance and routine facility demands
• You will have the opportunity to support projects, designing and installing new engineering and infrastructure, essential in supporting future nuclear facilities' capabilities
• You will be actively liaising with operational teams and undertake health and safety walk downs, as well as dealing with defects with the facility or supporting equipment
• You will be part of the team who are responsible for implementing the nuclear safety case requirements to operate the nuclear dock and/or associated facilities
• You will be part of enabling the successful and safe delivery of work packages on site, ensuring that all necessary controls are in place upon release of nuclear safety significant evolutions, such as docking a submarine

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Plant Engineer

• Ideally will have experience within high-hazardous industries (ideally nuclear facility industry, RAD-Waste, hazardous waste etc. oil and gas or other hazardous experience considered)
• Experience of managing work in high hazard industries, change management and problem solving skills
• Experience in team or stakeholder management, including direct reports and graduate engineers
• Experience of implementing risk assessments or safety cases

Qualifications for the Senior Plant Engineer

• Level 5 qualifications (HNC/HND) or other higher-level learning, plus experience

Context of Role Mental Health Practitioners provide brief clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation, decision-making and short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis. Working within the community, Livewell and hospital sites - Mental Health Practitioners provide face-to-face assessments working closely with other mental health services and agencies; such as the police, ambulance and local authority. Day-to-day, you'll provide proactive technical support to our MoD Customer, working collaboratively with other stakeholders across Babcock, the MOD, Royal Navy and industry.

• Provide expert submarine combat system advice to enable effective submarine capability beyond the original design life.
• Investigate, develop and offer technical recommendations on real engineering challenges to our customer and to the benefit of all stakeholders.
• Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of outputs, from understanding requirements, to ensuring appropriate review and acceptance, using domain knowledge to influence the design of future submarines, maximising ease of support in service and integration activities.

Essential experience of the Senior Combat Systems Engineer:

• Experience of submarine combat systems from an operational engineering perspective with A Class SM CS knowledge being highly desirable.
• Experience and knowledge of working within an engineering lifecycle role within the Submarine Support Enterprise.
• Experience and knowledge of the MoD organisation and procurement processes.
• Experience of working in a regulated industry with a wide and diverse stakeholder group.

The role

As a Senior Naval Architect, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process. This role will provide you with the opportunity to deliver complex structural solutions within an exciting, interesting team environment.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and substantiating marine designs through calculations, simulations, commissioning, and diagnostic test support. You will contribute and lead product development throughout the design lifecycle and provide technical support to our key customers, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs. You will act as Technical Authority and have deep subject knowledge of an aspect of marine engineering.

• Preparation and production of substantiation reports for marine solutions throughout the entire design lifecycle phases (Concept, Basic, Functional, Detail, Manufacturing, Installation and Decommissioning), in line with recognised standards and to the required time, cost and quality requirements.
• Liaising with design teams and other stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of system designs, including supporting design reviews.
• Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of technical and production queries.

This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Naval Architect

• Proven structural design experience from a highly regulated industry.
• Experience with appropriate analytical software such as stability software (Paramarine, NAPA, FORAN, Maxsurf), FEA, CFD and/or CAD.
• Experience of contributing to design reviews.

Qualifications for the Senior Naval Architect

• HND/HNC Level qualification within an engineering discipline (degree level is advantageous).
