MGF are currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a leading Temporary Works Engineering department, based in Livingston, Scotland.
Specialising in temporary works design, the successful candidates will be working within an engineering team with full tech responsibility for your own projects.
You will be required to use your industry experience to support MGF’s engineering team with complex, below, and above ground structural support schemes, offering technical assistance to the wider engineering team. Your design solutions will be based around MGF’s modular hire fleet, but not excluding bespoke structural steel, timber, and concrete as required.
As a Senior Engineer you will help manage and oversee the daily design workload, working closely with the Regional Sales Managers across the UK. You will provide technical guidance to the Sales team, whilst supporting the internal design team including Graduate Engineers, Design Engineers and Technicians. You will also support the Design Manager and Engineering Manager with department efficiency, training, recruitment, offline projects and assist with bespoke engineering projects when required.
Examples of the Temporary Works schemes you will be involved with are listed below:

Temporary & permanent excavation support including large basement propping (CAT 2/3)
Needling & propping of buildings
Dead shores / back propping
Façade retention
Temporary bridge jacking
Temporary crash decks

Your key responsibilities may include:

Manage the delivery of the core design workload
Managing your own design workload as well as others, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the department
Production of TW’s designs and drawings on a day-to-day basis to satisfy customer demand (CAT 2-3 in accordance with BS5975:2019)
Checking designs/drawings (CAT 2 in accordance with BS5975:2019)
Identify training requirements with Graduate Engineers / Design Engineers within their job role and implement adequate training plan
Actively assist with the training of engineering staff
Assist the Engineering Management team as required
To produce “one-off” project work as directed by the Engineering Management team / Directors
Provide technical support to the sales team / customers (project and business related.

Thorough understanding of structural behaviour

The Experience You Will Bring

Our client is a Lanarkshire based charitable company providing a range of community based mental health support services throughout the localities of Lanarkshire, as well as an information resource, charity shop café and wellbeing centre.

You will support the Service Manager in running two wellbeing hubs in Bathgate and Livingston. Based in one of the hubs, you will lead a small team of Link Workers and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, occupational therapists, and mental health nurses.

Your responsibilities include conducting initial assessments and providing person-centred support to individuals experiencing mental health issues, often exacerbated by stressful social circumstances. • Conducting initial structured conversations with people referred to service using standard internal paperwork and processes including introducing fellow staff to undertake support duties on completion of assessments, as well as liaising with clinical colleagues and other agencies where necessary
• To provide individual support to service users in accordance with their agreed and pre-set plans and fulfil key worker duties as required
• To participate with service users in negotiating, agreeing, and reviewing their individual plans
• To deliver individual and group based psychoeducational interventions
• To take part in organising, supporting, delivering and reviewing groupings of service users where they may occur
• To take a lead role in local community activities that promote positive mental health awareness and assist to challenge stigma and discrimination
• To keep accurate and up to date written records of service users visits/work
• To be proactive in promoting effective communication with relevant statutory and third sector agencies/professionals and their staff to ensure the best possible support arrangements are in place for service users and connections for future support/information and advice are also in place
• To be proactive in relationships with NHS mental health nurses and GP practices ensuring positive working relationships are achieved and suitable referrals are received
• To be proactive in promoting and maintaining effective internal and external communications
• To lead by example and work positively as part of a team, your actions being conducive to promoting effective, open, honest and supportive teamwork
• To organise and take a lead role in team meetings
• To provide regular supervision to relevant team members as well as ongoing support to assist them in their work and development, including annual appraisal and continued personal development
• To maintain positive and current communications with service manager and fellow senior to ensure service runs in a consistent and effective manner
• To deputise for service manager or fellow senior as required in their absence
• To provide planned and unplanned support, advice and direction to staff as required
• To ensure day to day work in relation to service is covered and staff absences are managed
• To gather record and collate data, including case studies/patient stories in a prescribed format for monitoring and evaluation purposes

Other Information:
