We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our customer programs team to support energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work with utility clients across the US. Our ES&I Customer Programs team is a community of experts working on the front lines of the utility industry transition. In short, we partner with our clients to design innovative programs, evaluate and optimize program contributions towards climate, energy, and other goals, and continuously improve the program experience for customers.
What You Will Do:
The Senior Consultant-Impact Evaluation position requires someone with subject matter expertise in evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) to evaluate efficiency and demand-side management programs. We are seeking candidates with experience in impact evaluation, engineering analysis, and working with data collected from the field. We are seeking a Senior Consultant-Impact Evaluation with experience estimating impacts from demand-side management programs within the residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors, including both prescriptive and custom projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Assessing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through engineering analysis, energy modeling, and field work
- Analyzing large and/or complex custom energy efficiency (electric and gas) projects at commercial and industrial sites
- Reviewing engineering-based energy savings assumptions and providing guidance on evaluation approaches
- Performing complex technical and economic analyses, spreadsheet creation, and project/task management
- Ensuring tasks are completed within project timelines and budgets and in adherence to quality standards
- Maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships
- Presenting technical analyses to clients in an easy-to-understand format including on client check-in calls, in presentations to stakeholders, and in reports and memos
- While not required for the position, our staff have the opportunity to perform fieldwork including performance measurement and field data collection of building and industrial process energy systems
We encourage career development and hire for the long term. We will work together to develop a career path that balances your goals and our client’s project needs. As you hone your technical capabilities, project management skills, and the aptitude for managing multiple workstreams, you will have the opportunity to progress to the next level.
What You Will Need:
- Due to nature of client engagement, US Citizenship restrictions apply
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering and/or related discipline and 3+ years relevant industry experience with impact evaluation and engineering analyses; OR Master’s degree in an engineering and/or related discipline and 1+ years relevant industry experience with impact evaluation and engineering analyses.
- Experience with evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) in the utility space

- Ability to travel as needed (~5-10% travel annually)
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.
- Currently reside in the contiguous United States. Candidates within 50 miles of a Guidehouse office may be required to work a hybrid work schedule instead of 100% remote.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Currently residing in Michigan, with ability to occasionally visit client sites in Michigan and Guidehouse offices in Ann Arbor or Detroit
- Experience in analysis of energy savings or consumption (electric and gas) for common energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial, or industrial sectors (such as lighting, HVAC, motors and drives, industrial processes, controls, weatherization, electrification, and/or custom measures).
- Field experience collecting primary data, such as energy usage data, equipment operation data, or equipment characteristics for the purposes of building energy audits or energy savings analyses
- Experience in multiple sectors and multiple types of evaluation (such as upstream, midstream, downstream).
- Experience in conducting analysis of consumption, metering, AMI data
- Experience with ASHRAE Level 1 Audits
