The post holder will provide specialist clinical physiology knowledge within respiratory and sleep and will ensure best principles of care are provided to patients at Medway Maritime Hospital and two new Community Diagnostic Centres. Independent full interpretation and analysis is expexted (scoring). To recommend patients on use of CPAP, set-up CPAP therapy and manage follow up consultations in patients with OSA and OHS. This will be in the form of New Patient and Annual Review Clinics Monitor patients who are undergoing an overnight polysomnography study. Ensure that the recordings produced during the study are of sufficient quality to be analysed accurately, and if necessary make adjustments to the equipment attached to the patient during the study. Make judgements on the severity of results, ensuring medical staff are informed immediately of any life threatening or urgent investigation results. Ensure that all the correct procedures for dealing with urgent and non-urgent results are adhered to. Take responsibility for the cleaning of all sleep equipment and ensuring it is kept in working order, liaise with EME reporting and faults and problems promptly. To assess investigation requests, checking there are no contraindications or risks, and to assess patients regarding their fitness to perform the tests.

Our Emergency Departments requires a finely tuned infrastructure to ensure patients receive the investigations they require at the earliest possible opportunity. 1. JOB DESCRIPTION We invite applications from highly motivated individuals with good communication skills to join our dynamic team with an intent to work towards gaining specialist registration through the CESR/portfolio pathway. The successful candidate will undertake a 3-year rotation between 3 trusts: Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust (1 year), Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (1 year) and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (1 year). During these 3 years the candidate will be exposed to various urology subspecialities, ranging from General and Core Urology to specialist sections of Endourology & Stones, Female & Functional Urology, Andrology and Uro-Oncology. The successful candidate will receive adequate support to build their portfolio to submit a successful CESR application by the end of 3 years in line with BAUS statement related to Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) rotations within Integrated Care Systems (ICS). The clinical supervisors across the 3 trusts have a vast understanding of the CESR application having had to go through the process themselves and will be able to provide the successful candidate with pertinent advice. The successful candidate would be encouraged and supported in their pursuit to take the FRCS (Urology) exit exam. 2. MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST The post holder will: be expected to participate in the middle grade on call rota. For Royal Surrey Hospital it will be 1:6 non-resident 24 hour on call at the Royal Surrey Hospital during weekdays and 1:14 non-resident 24 hour on call during weekends covering the Royal Surrey and Frimley Park Hospitals. For Frimley Park Hospital it will be 1:7 non-residential on call (17:00 08:00) during weekdays and 1:14 non-resident 24 hour on call during weekends covering the Royal Surrey and Frimley Park Hospitals. For Ashford and St Peters it will be 1:8 non-resident 24 hour on call during both weekdays and weekends covering Ashford and St Peters Hospital. be expected to work flexibly to support the service. This will include regular theatre sessions, diagnostics, clinics, supporting the junior team and managing inpatients. form part of the Uro-oncology MDT and will be expected to prepare and present cases at the weekly meeting which will be used as an educational and development opportunity. be expected to work with other speciality teams across to provide an efficient and effective service for inpatients, day-case and outpatients care. be expected to be up to date with the Trust mandatory training requirements undertaking yearly appraisal demonstrating professional activity in line with GMC revalidation recommendations. undertake clinical audit and quality improvement projects and ensure that agreed actions required as indicated are implemented.
