We are looking for a dedicated Children's Home Manager to create an environment that provides a combination of effective
safeguarding, support to our young people and leadership of our residential team within our 4-bed home.

As a Home Manager at SWAAY, you will understand how to make a house a home, leading by example to create and maintain a nurturing
and inclusive home environment for our vulnerable young people to thrive and reach their full potential.

For over 30 years, SWAAY have been committed to providing specialised, high-quality residential care, education and therapy for
young males aged 11-18 with developmental trauma who have displayed sexually harmful behaviour. We work to reduce the risk our
young people pose, meet their complex needs and help them to manage their physical and behavioural difficulties, so they can leave
their past traumas behind, build healthy relationships and lead responsible and rewarding adult lives.

This role involves leading excellent standards of individualised care, meeting the emotional, physical and developmental needs of
the young people in the home, as well as guiding and developing the staff working in the home.

Your responsibilities include:

* Managing the day to day running of the home – including staffing, weekly budgets, resources
* Promoting the ethos of openness and equality of communication
* Using the principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE) to provide the young people with attachment
security
* Overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of placement plans and risk assessments, maintaining accurate records
within the house in line with legislation and company policies
* Liaising with families and external agencies
* Providing staff supervision and training, as well as performance management and support
* Leading, guiding and motivating team members
* Taking part in recruitment and selection processes
* Supporting the Therapy and Education programmes
* On Call duties



To be a successful Home Manager at SWAAY, you will have:

* Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification)
* Achieved or be working towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Management in Residential Childcare
* At least 2 years’ experience working with children/young people – preferably with emotional or behavioural
difficulties/disrupted attachments
* Experience in a managerial role within a residential setting
* Knowledge of The Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
* Ability to uphold clear and consistent boundaries

We are looking for a registered Social Worker or AMHP with a professional social work qualification, or equivalent, and proven post qualifying experience. You will need to have direct management experience within adult’s social services where you can demonstrate strong and successful leadership and implement service improvements.

Based at the offices of the Community Mental Health team, you will work as part of a joint team, funded by both Health and Social Care. This will require you to manage multiple demands on your time and expertise.

As an Assistant Community Services Manager, you will be expected to provide guidance and advice across the whole team and participate in Safeguarding and Operational Management rotas, as well as deputising for the Service Manager across Health and Social Care activities.

Key responsibilities...
To assist the Service Manager with agreed delegated responsibilities, in order to contribute to the provision of a community mental health service for adults.
To provide professional supervision and guidance to staff as well as recruitment, training, appraisal and where appropriate performance management.
To ensure that arrangements for support are cost-effective before they are submitted for approval and that staff understand their responsibilities in relation to financial management.
To take responsibility for safeguarding investigations and in addition to act as the decision maker.
To manage complaints where required and verify assessments and authorise when appropriate.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day to day management of their designated service, including line managing the relevant front line staff. You will lead and develop competence of direct reports as well as carry caseloads of customers requiring support. You will work closely with the contract manager to ensure that the service delivers on all targets, both financial and those around the quality of the service.

This is a fixed term contract of 12 months.

What you'll do:

Lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service
Deliver effective supervision and team meetings with staff and ensure that information, reporting and communication
Responsible for the personal development of staff, identifying high performers and feeding into the organisations succession plans
Ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) required as part of the Contract are met and recorded correctly
Develop key business relationships with all appropriate relevant customers/external parties to ensure service delivery excellence and maximise new business opportunities in own patch
Participate in and monitor the initial and continuous assessment of needs and ensure that support planning is carried out in line with assessed needs of the customer
Carry out other administrative tasks as relevant to the service and directed by the Contract/Heads of Operations
Deliver an out of hours on-call service for region, where required
Ensure that all safeguarding cases are managed in line with safeguarding protocols and are reported to Contract Manager/Head of Operations, as appropriate
Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies are adhered to at all times and to uphold all health and safety responsibilities within relevant policies and local protocols
Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements
