About the Role
As European Short Term trading manager, you will be responsible for overseeing short term trading, this will require working knowledge of major CWE markets including all the associated training and responsibilities as a trader. You will be providing strategy and training for junior traders and development of tools used by the shift desks.
As we are at an early stage of our journey to becoming a market leader in European short term trading this is a core part of the role in driving the capabilities of the team and wider functions of SSE Energy markets and also presents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.
You will develop the framework for progression and benchmarking of traders at all levels, defining the roles and responsibilities at the varying levels of traders we presently have on shift. This will include a process for measuring the value the trader provides to the business and managing the progression of the trading staff through these levels.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drive the European DAH and Intraday Trading strategies and develop tools and strategies to maximise value and minimise losses.
- Develop and maintain operational tools that can be utilised by Operations teams to enhance market competitiveness and maximise future PPA value.
- Collaborate with other European trading desks to help drive long term strategy as well building out trade support analyst desk allowing traders more time to focus on trading activities.
- Establish, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaising with Regulations and Compliance teams to ensure a full compliance record towards any obligation.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in numerical subject such as, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Economics.
- Experience in European power market analysis as well as knowledge of all major commodity markets, industry structures, players, industry structure and commercial mechanisms and drivers.
- Ability to create and operate complex analytical tools and models
- Ability to create and articulate complex trading proposals
- Ability to monitor positions and generate trading ideas
