Our opportunity
We are seeking a forward-thinking Head of Sub-Contract Management. Reporting to the Procurement Director in this leadership role, you will lead and support the business working with our suppliers in under water systems both domestically and internationally.
Internally you will liaise with a broad range of stakeholders at the Under Water Systems (UWS) domain level as well Thales UK’s International Business Line and our Global Procurement Categories. You will have significant engagement with category management, industry and project management to ensure on time, cost and conformance delivery as part of the UWS delivery team.
You will be leading a team of experienced Sub-Contracts Managers predominantly based at Templecombe and Cheadle. It is not essential for you to be based at Templecombe/Cheadle, there is a level of expectation you are on site as required. You will have the freedom to shape and influence how the role works in practice.
The Head of Sub-Contract management will be expected to develop and manage the team, will be a part of the UWS Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) and will act as a delegate for the Procurement Director or other members of the PLT as required.
Key targets include sub-contract / supplier delivery, quality and cost performance and process development and improvement.

Essential skills and experience
Strong Leadership qualities
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Experience of Supplier and Sub-Contract Management
Sound commercial and business awareness
Forward leaning, able to look at the broader strategy and outcomes beyond the immediate task
Record of accomplishment in assessing risk and communicating management and mitigation requirements.
Flexibility to travel to other sites in the UK and overseas as required to support both Internal and external requirements.
Industry related experience preferred.
Team Management experience preferred
