Your new role
Reporting in to the Deputy Director of Finance; you will provide leadership and guidance for all aspects of financial reporting and compliance across the organisation. This is a critical role that will see you being responsible for the financial accounting section within a busy finance team and you will directly manage & develop 3 staff members. With the support of your team, you will be responsible for all aspects of monthly and annual financial reporting including the production of consolidated annual financial statements for the group. You will complete various monthly reports on business performance, along with any financial returns required. You will build strong working relationships with various internal & external stakeholders including the external auditor, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided and be an active member of the senior finance team. You will complete process & system improvement, innovating to reduce the monthly reporting timetable and deliver efficiencies in the process whilst maintaining data quality and control.

You will be a qualified technical accountant who ideally has experience working within a large complex organisation or group structure. You will have strong experience in financial accounting & reporting including year-end accounting. You will have experience with staff supervision / management and possess excellent IT skills with experience dealing with large data sets. You will ideally have experience with reporting efficiencies / process improvement.

What you'll be doing;

• Be the main Business Partner in respect of the MoD & TWM Scotland area of IWE North Region supporting the sub-regions General Manager and Operational Team.

Job Overview
-An exciting opportunity to work in the Central Government and Defence business unit of Mitie as a Project Manager in Scotland South (East and Central) area of the Scotland and Northern Ireland defence contract. Experience:

-Competent in the use of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and Maximo (desirable).

-A minimum of five years experience of working within a construction related industry (essential).



-Management experience of delivering multiple projects simultaneously (project values ranging from £15K to £3,000,000) and Understand profit & loss at a project level.



-Able to deliver the above at pace, working within multiple deadlines whilst delivering works accurately.



-You will be expected to work to your own initiative, whilst also working well as an integral team member.

What you'll be doing;

• Be the main Business Partner in respect of the MoD & TWM Scotland area of IWE North Region supporting the sub-regions General Manager and Operational Team.
  
• Production of monthly management accounts and reports and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet items in respect of the sub region
  
• Production of monthly consolidated forecast for the sub-region
  
• Production and distribution of monthly consolidated regional financial results and reports
  
• Supervision of one Assistant Management Accountant
  
• Attendance at finance based regional meetings e.g P&L reviews, forecast reviews and budget reviews
  
• Assistance and coordination of information flow in respect of annual statutory audit
  
• Assisting in the preparation of 1 entity's Statutory Accounts
  
• Assistance in the production of the 5-year rolling Financial Business Plan
  
• Preparation of annual budget
  
• The maintenance of several rolling models including Profit Share and Benchmarking ensuring all required criteria and deadlines are met and the appropriate information is shared internally with the client
  
• Close working with Commercial Manager to identify and understand the Financial reporting requirements of the respective contracts and that the business is fully compliant with contractual obligations
  
• Supervision of the production of monthly invoices and assisting credit control when required in securing payments
  
• Produce financial analysis and propose actions to improve
  
• Preparation of Financial Statements for Board meetings
  
• Ensure optimum cash flow for business including efficient dividend payments and also ensuring impairment testing is done on a regular basis
  
• Processing accounting transactions
  
• Track contracts' financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  
• Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company
  
• Maintain effective communication with commercial and operational colleagues, other parts of the business, clients and internal and external audit to sustain a high reputation for financial governance
  
• Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  
• Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation
  

What we're looking for;

• Minimum 5 years post qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or relevant QBE with good knowledge of accounting standards
  
• Strong IT skills including Workday, Google Suite and Infor
  
• Able to understand, question, organise and challenge a range of financial data
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills that establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly with key stakeholders and operational management
  
• Through effective communication skills, presents ideas and information in a way that creates a climate in which others are informed and want to participate

The role:
As a Senior Project Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for day-to-day management of the project and must be competent in managing key aspects of a project i.e., safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources to achieve a project's agreed objectives. This scope of time, budget and requirement will often be set by our customer via a contract to deliver a specific capability or service.

Day-to-day, you'll manage projects in complex situations, with independence and lead others. You will also:

• Build integrated project delivery teams (including Project Management and Controls, Engineering, SHEQ, Commercial, Procurement and Supply Chain) that work together to define, plan, monitor and control the successful delivery of the project
• Manage Customer interfaces and associated stakeholders including identification and monitoring of project risks, planning and implementing responses
• Lead the project to deliver world class performance by means of employee engagement, continuous improvement and identifying and implementing the latest technology
• Establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of the project, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities
• Take accountability for planning and monitoring the project; and submission of regular monthly performance reports; indicating any deviations, corrective action taken and escalation of issues.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager:

• Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
• Full project lifecycle experience from bid phase through to close out.
• Managed projects of varying types and significant complexity: including varying products, services, across all phases of the lifecycle
• Experience in contracting methodologies (e.g. NEC).
• Cross functional awareness of lifecycle requirements for supporting functions

Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager:

• Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering / project / construction management or a related field
• A postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership in a professional body
• Mandatory (or agreement to attain in 12 months):
• APM Chartered Professional (ChPP)
• APM Project Management Qualification
• APM Project Planning and Controls - Foundation (Desirable)
