Base salary: ÂŁ28,072 - ÂŁ32,605 + overtime + standby payments

What is the Role?
Keeping the lights on, that's the strapline but for our skilled teams it's much more than this. The work you will do is vital, impacting our customers as they go about their day. A Linesperson is at the heart of our network, helping us to power change through maintaining and upgrading the electricity network.
SSEN are currently looking for a Trainee Linesperson, upskilling to a fully qualified Linesperson to join our team. This is an opportunity to develop an exciting career and further authorisations within SSEN.
The role will include:
- Undertaking work on our overhead electricity network, responding to faults, repairing and/ or replacing as required.
- Constructing new, upgrading existing and installing bespoke solutions on the LV, 11kV and 33kV network.
- Being responsible for the safety of yourself and colleagues, acting as an ambassador for a strong safety culture in everything you do.
- Acting as a strong ambassador for SSE Power Distribution, providing excellent customer service with a flexible approach when called upon for fault conditions.
- Working on poles on our network.
Linesperson Programme:
The programme can take 18 to 24 months depending on your personal capabilities and is centred on an initial course at our training school followed by buddying with an experienced Lines team where you will build a portfolio of work which will allow you to gain authorisations to work on the network.
By the end of the programme, you'll have gained valuable on-the job experience, learned new skills and gained an industry recognised qualification, enabling you to have the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector and contribute to the delivery of NETZERO.
This role can be demanding, and you'll be required to respond quickly to emergency situations; we want to provide the best possible service to our customers in their time of need. This will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions with a requirement to undertake out of hours standby duties and short notice attendance for storm situations.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to:
- Be customer-focussed with a natural ability to build relationships with customers, stakeholders and members of the public.
- Have some experience working at height and be comfortable working in an outdoor environment in all seasons.
- Have a strong focus on health & safety and will adhere to our company motto "if it's not safe, we don't do it."
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to use your initiative and planning to make sure that you have the proper equipment for the job at hand and be resilient to the continual changes within our sector and always focussed on delivering great results.
- Enjoy working as part of a team working alongside the Lines teams, and you will undergo training on both HV (high voltage 11KV - 33KV) works and LV (415V - 1000V).
