Peer specialists perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that include assisting Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning, and practicing new skills, as well as helping veterans monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the peer specialist's own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services. This position will serve as a community-based peer specialist within the local VA facility catchment area. The working environment may include providing peer support services in places such as Veterans' homes, prisons, jails, treatment courts, shelters, tent encampments, street outreach, etc.
Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Participates in the service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services and functions as a fully vested member of the multidisciplinary team.

The Supervisory Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Officer (VREO) manages the Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E) division and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and professional leadership to a professional and technical staff of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and clerical staff. The incumbent performs the following (but not limited to):

• The VREO directs and supervises the administration of work involving eligibility criteria, vocational exploration, conducting assessments of both the local labor market, plan development based on appropriate vocational goals, examination of medical information, making legally binding entitlement decisions, award adjustments, award authorization, and case management services.
• The VREO provides administrative expertise in all phases of rehabilitation activities, including counseling, case management, rehabilitation plan development, and job development and placement.
• The VREO may review personally the most difficult and complex cases and elements such as fraud, high cost programs, independent living cases to include home adaptation, category one and two self-employment cases, re-entrance into a rehabilitation program cases, retroactive induction cases, and extension of entitlement cases.
• The VREO provides internal policy direction and supervision of the RO VR&E staff through on-site visits and inspections, review and analysis of standard or specifically requested data and individualized or telephonic and written communication.
• The VREO maintains knowledge of special incentives and hiring preferences for Veterans and ensures that outreach is conducted.
• The VREO understands and is sensitive to the objectives of the EEO program and promotes workforce diversity through recruitment, coaching, and developmental activities, consistent with the merit system principles.

As the day shift/first shift Architectural Unit Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for preventive maintenance inspections, maintenance, repairs, and in-house modifications associated with the architecture at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Architectural finishes included are masonry, drywall, roofing, doors, ceilings, flooring, partitions, painting, signage, casework, and other associated architectural systems. The afternoon supervisor, Architectural Unit may take immediate action to correct hazardous conditions which could result in personal injury to individuals and/or damage to equipment, property, or buildings.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Taking immediate action to correct hazardous conditions which could result in personal injury to individuals and/or damage to equipment, property or building.
• Issuing daily work assignments for the team, maintaining in-service training and physical exam records and keeping technicians informed of any changes in assignments.
• Ensuring appropriate materials are used in a variety of trades, particularly in masonry, drywall, roofing, doors, ceilings, paint, signage and other architectural systems.
• Maintaining comprehensive contracts and renovation projects for the facility.
• Reviewing construction drawings and construction sites and recommend changes and additions to ensure continuity with the current architectural design, structure, and code requirements.
• Inspecting all areas and buildings for compliance with VHA policies, JCAHO, occupational safety health standards, state and local standards and guidelines and annual workplace evaluations.
• Responsible for providing support to the Veterans Outreach Centers and the 50 bed off-site Domiciliary.
• Performing a wide range of preventative maintenance for facility building service equipment and systems.
• Staying current with regards to architectural and design codes and their regulations and procedures and ability to recognize potential architectural needs and safety hazards.
• Assures compliance with fire, safety, conduct, housekeeping, and other pertinent rules and regulations.

The Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex primary care. This nurse provides gender-specific direct Veteran care and care coordination, as it pertains, to Veterans and their care within the Primary Care Department. Manages assigned panel(s), utilizes registries, and ensures appropriate evaluation and access is provided to patient panels. This nurse provides health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences
care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for the Primary Care Department and facility. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through primary care knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outpatient outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for primary care individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented PACT outcomes at the program or service level. PACT program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.

• Directs subordinate Police Officers engaged in law enforcement responsibilities;
