The post is a full-time, fixed term for 12 months, post covering the service over 7 days per week working long days and nights. The team covers Lancaster, Morecambe and surrounding areas.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 mental health practitioner to work in the Home Treatment Team in Lancaster.

The Home Treatment Team cares for people who are experiencing acute episodes of mental illness or emotional distress. The service is an alternative to admission and offers intensive support to service users and their families in the community.

The service works closely with the in-patient wards to support early discharges and with other parts of the mental health services as well as third sector providers, so great communication skills are essential.

As a member of the team you would be working with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Mental Health Nurses; Support Workers; Occupational Therapist; Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist.

The Role

Lancaster City Council is looking to recruit highly motivated Resident Support Officers to join the team supporting the most in need in our district.

This team will work with and be managed by the Customer Services Team.

Your duties will include administering the Household Support Fund as well as signposting people to other support within the district. The Household Support Fund is funded by the UK Government to support those in our district who are struggling to afford the essentials.

The role will involve you providing updates on people’s applications in person and over the phone as well as supporting people to provide the correct documentation before the case is sent for assessment. Once a full financial assessment has been carried out by North Lancashire Citizens Advice you will be responsible for processing the awards.

You may also be out and about in the district providing help, advice and support as well as signposting to third party organisations where appropriate.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, organised and can follow procedures as well as being proficient in working with technology and IT.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2025; therefore, we are ideally looking for people who can start quickly.

The hours of work for this position is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. There may be the occasional evening or weekend work required.
