Description:
As a Fitter (General) at CIRRUS, you will play a critical role in our engineering and maintenance team at our Islington, NSW location. You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various mechanical and engine systems, including gas and diesel generators. This position requires expertise in engine reconditioning, machining, troubleshooting, and implementing control system upgrades, along with experience in project supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct reconditioning and machining of gas and diesel engines, both on-site and in the workshop.
• Troubleshoot, commission, and perform retrofits on genset modules for power generation and propulsion.
• Supervise maintenance projects in power stations, including minor and major works.
• Oversee engine control unit retrofits and commission gas and diesel engines.
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and produce quotes for repair projects, focusing on operational efficiency.
• Provide remote support and scheduling for maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Install and commission engine control system hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance.
• Manage customer accounts and liaise on project requirements, providing technical support as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Trade Certification: Industrial Mechanic or equivalent; additional training in Industrial Electronics Technician preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years in a similar role, ideally in gas and diesel engine maintenance, with hands-on experience in reconditioning and control systems.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in fault-finding, engine diagnostics, and troubleshooting of control systems for both gas and diesel-powered engines.
• Project Management: Experience supervising maintenance and repair projects in international settings.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with industrial and marine power systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Competency in both German and English languages is an asset.
• Experience working across diverse locations including Europe, North America, Africa, and Australia.
